Would you like your father more than your mother or the opposite??Why??

2007-06-07 09:06:09 · 61 answers · asked by Anonymous

I had a fight with my mother last week. She thought that I shouldn't be upset, therefore in her mind I wasn't upset. I spoke with her yesterday, after not speaking to her for a week. She tried yelling at me, and lecturing me like I am still a child. I told her that I didn't have time in my life for such things, and got off the phone with her.
Today she saw my husband and started complaining about me. She said that I said things that I didn't say, I didn't even say things remotely like the things she said I said. She told my husband that I had told her and my dad to go to hell, that I didn't need them anymore, that I had my own family now.
Why did my mother tell my husband these lies? Is there something wrong with her, or is she just trying to "go behind my back" to get my husband on her side, or turn him against me, or I don't know what??? Should I call her and say something to her? Please help! I worry that something could be wrong in her mind.

ok..like my mom has been thinking that i am depressed..heres why:

she thinks that i am depressed about my brother(he has just recently built up my family's trust, and then he just squished it like it was a bug. or u can say he "ran" away) so my mom thinks it is becuase of that

but she said she noticed that i never smile anymore, and at a wedding i went to i just sat by myself, instead of going to talk with anyone. i mean yes this is true but i dont feel any different since he left. i mean he is my only brother and everything but i learned to live my life without him... if you can help me any that would be great..but if u need more info to help u can e-mail me or sumthing

My father in law wanted me to be his best friend. But I always thought that its not a good idea because a best friend comes before everything. so I told him that I need a father rather than a Friend. I know that best friends share all their secrets & problems with each other. I am now married and believe that my Husband is only my best friend and if I have anything to share he should be the first one to know it, not someone else. My mother in law is also some old fashion person and I do not know what meaning they will draw from my father in law being my best friend....and I also do not know how will my husband will react about this friendship, although this friendship would have been very pour but might have not been seen in a right sence...My father in law has asked me many times are you my friend and I never responded because I was not comfortable being his best friend. But I feel bad coz I let him down...He cares about me alot..did I do a right thing?? Please advice

You had a good life, your still young, 17-20, your in school, things are going good for you it seems like, but you either accidentally got pregnant or you wanted to become pregnant and start a family so you did. How did it change your life? Did your partner stay with you to help? How did your parents react? I'm 19 and I want to start a family with my bf but I'm pretty sure my parents would flip out, especially since I've got everything going for me right now school-wise. My mom had me at 20 and she said she doesn't want me to go through what she had to go through, but it would be different, bc I WANT to do this as opposed to her accident. I was just wanting to hear some stories about what happened in this kind of situation. Thanks

We've been together for 6 years and we are 22 years old. I love her to death. I can't imagine myself without her. Next week is our anniversary. She love me too. What should I do for our 7 year anniversary. She's the one for me. Since I am attending college for my Ph.D, I already got my B.A. I'm planning on marrying her but not after until I get my Ph.D. So, what should I do for our 7 year anniversary? I want to make it special to let her know that she's really special to me and I love her and how much she means to me.

Am I allowed to see them like any other person or stranger? Can I live in the same town? Work at their school? Can I legally be in my kids' lives since the courts decided I cannot have them to raise?

Men are supposed to be the head of the house but what if the wife makes more money so the dad switches roles and takes care of the kids? Is this frowned upon by other people? I would like to hear your thoughts! I'm not talking about free loaders who sit on the couch all day! I'm talking cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, doctor visits, watching kids, and the whole works!

Ok, so if I lived with a friend (im more or less looking at a coach), would my dad try to force his way to the courts and put me back in his home? Again, he is abusive. But by law he must pay for my high school tuition because of the divorce, or he could go to jail. The conditions that he doesn't have to pay for any tutition is if I join the military, drop out, or get married. All 3 of those things arn't gonna happen. I don't want to get lynched if I lived with my dad, both at home and in school. I don't want everyone in town to think I can't face reality. I am sick of being spit in the face by everyone and the only chance I actually feel good about myself when it comes to school is going to be taken away from me. Please I need help. I am 16 too.

I have a question dealing with my boyfriend (BF) and my family. My BF and I plan on getting married in 2 mos. at a courthouse (we don't care for ceremonies). My parents want to be at there, even though it's more of a formality than an event. My BF, who is not close to his family and doesn't like hanging out with people who "inconvenience" him (abusive upbringing), doesn't want anybody to be at the courthouse. I do not care either way, but my BF states that when telling my parents not to come to the courthouse, I should say that "we" don't want them to come. I am stuck in the middle b/c I want to please both my parents and BF. If I tell them the truth about my BF's feelings and reasons to my parents, he thinks that I do not support him and am betraying him. Since my parents are Thai-American, family is important and I believe what my BF wants will hurt my parents. I can't talk to my BF b/c I get emotional -- he then gets angry and yells violently, which I am not use to. What to do?

My brother came home to fix our roof. He was done and decided to take a dip. Now this may sound weird but he swam nude. It was no big deal to me because I have seen him nude more times than I can remember. She came back and freaked when he got out the water nude and started to dry off. She hasn't spoken to me in a week. Do i owe her an apology?

I have a new friend and she is a about 11 years older than me..she is my former college teacher and we talk all the time through email and she is about to have a baby next month.I would really like to help her out if she needs it and become better friends with her..we are planning to go do something later this month before she is due.I hope we don't lose touch because I think she would be a good friend to have in the end.She gives me alot of advice and actually started me a hobby that her and her husband like to do and she tells me alot about it and suggests alot of things to me.I was just wondering ..I dont want the friendship to fade away...and I want to make her something when the baby is born like some kind of dish but I don't know how to tell her..I mean how would I ask her if I could bring her by some food or whatever?? I have never been to her house or anything... what would you say?(we are both female) I also dont know where she lives.do you think she will want me to come over?

My sister is 20 yrs old and I'm 22 for the past couple years (ever since she started college) she hasn't liked me as much as she used to. I feel like a ratty stuffed animal she's outgrown. She acts like I'm an embarrassment and talks to me like I'm a mentally retarded 5yr old! She's become very shallow. I tried talking to her-that doesn't work. Would a head to toe makeover w/ weight loss help? I know I'm kind of old to care what she thinks but I can't help it, I want to be liked by everyone. I'm open to any suggestions that'll at least get her talking to me like I'm normal person.

Ok..my mom's been using my curling tongs for about 2 weeks now because her old fashioned arent working properly. The 1st time she used them, she came into my room, saw them, and asked if she could use them. I said yeah just as long as she cleans them after (our hair oil etc comes off on them). So I jz thort tht was a kinda one off u know what I mean..I assumed she was plannin on gettin sum new ones. But since then, shes gradually been using them more and more regularly, like nearly evryday and the thing is, she dnt always clean em and she forgets they heat up instantly so she sometimes leaves em on for ages till they shut down. I havent said anything to her since this morning when I asked her when she's gona get sum ones of her own and shes like, well I dont need to Ive got these. Im like mom..theyre mine? And shes like did u pay for them? No, I said, I got them for christmas as a gift. And she's like well then I paid for them. And a row ensued. Am I in the wrong here?
