...my father....my hero! Mother is bi-polar and unpredictable, so when they divorced, my father got custody and what a wonderful thing that was. Raised by working class folks in small town New England, supported with grandparents, aunts and uncles made for a extended family that most just don't have. My father is still an important part of my life, even though we live 2500 miles apart, we speak daily and we get to see each other at least 2-3 times a year!

I always ponder this question and I would have to say that while I like them both equally. It depends on how I'm feeling and it just tends to sway either way. Growing up, I liked my dad better because he was the "fun" parent. But now that I'm grown up, I tend to stick to my mum more because I now realise why she was the way she was when I was younger. Plus, she's more of a homebody as compared to my dad. So, I think she appreciates when I'm around for company.

My dad without a doubt, he was a big softie but also firm my mum was an only child and spoilt when she met my dad and she still hasn't changed, she had four children, my dad was a seaman and when he was home it was lovely but when he was away it was awful as she was horrible to us we were made to feel in the way and unwanted the only time we felt loved was off our dad, I admire all of those who had two parents though, I have five children and I have asked them your question, they all answered they love dad but they adore me and if they were made to choose they would choose me everytime, now without asking them i knew this would be their answer and not because they were put on the spot and they wouldn't want to hurt me but because if they have a problem in their personal life a personal problem a worry a concern etc they come to me and unless i tell dad he doesn't find out, but i have a terrific bond with my kiddies i am always there for them and they know it, their dad loves them but he would rather stand back and direct them towards me he is the strict one i'm just the soft touch but i love them so much i don't care if they think they can get round me because they will everytime they try because i love them with all of my heart and soul : )

No way could I choose one over the other, they were both great parents, Dad was a very gentle, quiet, person, very hard working, Mum was the one who although I didn't know it at the time was a very strong woman,& had a big impact on my later life, I would give anything to have them both back again,

I love them both equally, but my mama is my best friend. I can literally tell her anything! Even when I was a teenager and me and my friends would rent a hotel room to party "hey, mama, we're going to the hotel tonight, I have my cell if you need me!".
I was a total daddy's girl when I was little, but when I hit high school he got really strict. I wasn't even able to go to the mall with my friends until I was 17! The hotel parties came a little later, lol! He constantly kept me on restriction for the simple fact that he knew I was a teenager and growing up. He wanted to keep his little girl little forever. He finally let the strings go when I was 18. Now I'm 21 and living with my boyfriend and since I've moved out, our relationship has improved a lot.

You should not choose between the two unless one or the other is a horrible person.
GOD created parents for a very good reason. You should be very happy that you have both parents. Look at millions of orphans who would give anyting in this world to have a pair of parents.
Good Luck.

Absolutely love my mother more than him, I have no feeling whatsoever for him (other than hate), haven't seen him in a year and I'm going to be permeanantly screwed up due to what he did.
Edit
Who gave me the thumbs down for that? I can't help the way I feel, and I don't think I owe him anything as I would rather be dead than alive and yes, I have attempted suicide, and also all he wanted was a one nighter with my mum, I was a nasty surprise.

I love both of my parents, but my mom and I are very close and also very good friends, so I'd have to say I'm on team Mom! When I was growing up, my dad worked a lot and was not home so much, so my mom did most of the raising. As a result, my brother and sister and I are all really close to our mom, and don't have as good of a relationship with our dad.
Good luck! :)

According to Freud, we tend to develop an attachment to our opposite-sex parent early in our childhood.
I was raised without my Dad, but with a Stepdad.
I can't choose. I love them both (Mom & Dad) A LOT.
