hmm....i have African parents who are a bit like that also. My best advice is to make a compromise and argue your way out of the house. Show them how good of a student you are so that they will have nothin to complain about....if all else fails...hun...sometimes you have to rebel to make a statement.

As a father of 4 kids and 5 grand-kids another on the way as i type this.....I can tell you that the hardest part of being a parent is the letting go of your children as they grow into young adults...Problem is that most young adults don't make very good informed decisions,...This is a dangerous world we live in, believe it !!!!! All you have to do is get on-line or read a news paper to see where someone has abducted or abused a child.
A child has a special kind of innocence that when taken from them in the wrong way will damage them for life.....As for your education that my friend is the most important thing in life for you right now, you just cant see it...
All women no matter their nationality should go as far in school as they are able...I cant tell you how many women I've met who are trapped in a bad, or abusive relationship. Just because of there financial situation....Be able to support yourself... Its not easy especially when children become involved.....
One bad decision could destroy your chance for a university education....I know a young lady who had a 4.0 grade average who can get the education she would like to have because of a racist name she called someone in school, and was placed in her permanent record....The decisions you make as a child can affect you as and adult......
I love my children and they will always be my children no matter how old they are.....Parents still try to protect there children even after they are grown.....You will find as Did i that as you get older your parents seem to get smarter.....But what it is really is that you start to see things differently...
Parents want the best for there children.....I would like to see all my children surpass me in life.....Take a deep breath and think about it we as parents have all been your age and we know how it is.... sorry didn't mean to get on the soap box but in this situation i guess that's where i felt i needed to be.....Good luck...

how old are you? if you are under 13 or 14 i can understand them being overprotective. but if you really want to go out, perhaps show them that you are responsible enough to do so.

my parents are the same way
just tell them that you want some time to yourself
maybe help around the house a little and show they can trust you
that's what worked for me
GOOD LUCK!!!
