Ok..my mom's been using my curling tongs for about 2 weeks now because her old fashioned arent working properly. The 1st time she used them, she came into my room, saw them, and asked if she could use them. I said yeah just as long as she cleans them after (our hair oil etc comes off on them). So I jz thort tht was a kinda one off u know what I mean..I assumed she was plannin on gettin sum new ones. But since then, shes gradually been using them more and more regularly, like nearly evryday and the thing is, she dnt always clean em and she forgets they heat up instantly so she sometimes leaves em on for ages till they shut down. I havent said anything to her since this morning when I asked her when she's gona get sum ones of her own and shes like, well I dont need to Ive got these. Im like mom..theyre mine? And shes like did u pay for them? No, I said, I got them for christmas as a gift. And she's like well then I paid for them. And a row ensued. Am I in the wrong here?

I didn't mind her using them..jz aslong as she intended to get some of her own soon. Ok I don't use them that often..but that's the whole point, I don't want them to be man. I wanted to keep them in good nick. I was jz asking the logical assumption.

You are right. She has no business taking them over. A gift is a gift and she has no right to repossess it!
However, she does have a point in that she shares all her things with you. The best solution is for you to buy her a new set of curling irons and give them to her. Don't forget to say that you are sorry, and perhaps she will do the gracious thing and realize that she needs to apologize as well.

Im sure your mother makes thousands of sacrifies for you every day. Just let her use the curling tongs. Clean them off yourself big deal. Im sure shes cleaned up after you one too many times like all mothers do.
It was wrong of her to throw the money issue in your face but dont make a deal out of it. Why dont you buy her a set as a gift??

Actually thats kinda selfish of your mom to just steal your christmas gift there. I know you could just buy a new pair, but its the principle of it. I'd just ask her, "Are there any other christmas gifts you'd like to take back while you're at it?!" Or you could always get her something and take them back and say, "well did you pay for them?"

As a mother, she needs to teach better morals of mine, yours, and ours. Would she treat a roomate the same way?

Perhaps you were a bit selfish, but your point is understood as well...if you get an allowance, i would suggust buying another set of tongs and giving the new ones to your mom. It would make her happy and relieve your guilt for feeling selfish.

NO!
Your mom might have paid for them but when she gives it to u its like she has just activated a will it now belongs to u and u ALONE!!!!

politely ask her for a second set so you both have your own. tell her that you can not use them if she is getting ready at the same time.

She is your mom, but she should still respect yours as yours. I absolutely understand why you are confused about her not buying one for herself. What does your dad say?
