My mother is a wonderful, hardworking person. In the last 5 years she has had it really, really rough. Well, things are starting to look-up for her. The thing is, her house is a wreck. It needs to be cleaned really bad, but she is working 10 to 11 hour days. I have some free time right now and would like to help make it into a nice home for her and my sisters. How should I go about telling her this without hurting her feelings?

I am doing my radio show on internet radio (as always, every Tuesday); and I posed a question this week about what music festivals you lot were all planning on going to this year! I had a great response - so THANK YOU! So; I have decided that most weeks; I will be sending out a question to you lot!

So; this week's question - WHAT DO YOU GET YOUR DAD FOR FATHER'S DAY....?! I want to know what to get for the man who has everything?! Do you quiz him in advance for the kind of present he's hoping for? Or just get the usual gifts that are acceptable just like every other occasion - Birthday's, Christmas etc...? Or; do you reckon it's just another commercial excuse for us all to go out and spend money?!

As always - your responses will be aired/shared - all answers/comments are appreciated - just PLEASE keep them clean!!!

If you want to tune into the nonsense - feel free! www.generationmix.co.uk from 10pm on Tuesday 12th June 2007.

Okay, today is the 6th which means it is the day of the trial.
Recap: My cousin was shot and killed by his daughter 6 months ago. today was her trial. she lied her way through it and here's what happened.

She only got 2 years! That is bullshit. I'm so mad. She got
2 1/2 but got credit for already being in custody for 6 months. She will be under watch until she is 23 though.

i work at a daycare right now, and my son comes with me, i need to pay 1/4 of what i make for him to be there. and i dont make more than $150 a week. My husband makes good money, should i stay home with our son and his soon to be sibling(in december) or stay working until the new baby comes and then worry about what i should do then since the daycare doesnt accept 6 week olds. My paycheck is just basically my own spending money, our bills get paid by my husbands paycheck so is it worth working or should i stay home with him now? Let me know what you think? This has been on my mind for weeks now.

My younger sister came home one day from day and was crying. She was 'Syruped'. She was at a middle school party and some of the girls there took a capless syrup bottle, made my sister open her mouth somehow and squirted the syrup into her mouth. After this they 'shanked' her, which i now know means to pull down someone's pants (not underwear.) She ran off crying. She also said later that this had happened to alot of girls at her school, and to most of the girls, it was their only fear at their school. This NEVER happened when I was in junior high. I think it is just ridiculous! Does this happen where you live? what do you think?

there is people on this that are making me feel really bad like im being a bad parent... i have a baby daughtr tat is nearly 3 months old and wanted to get her ears pierced and get her into fashion modelling but for some reason a few no good ignorant people are telling me that my daughter must be ugly because parents only get their little girls ears pierced because they have ulgy little girls who look like boys and want them to be more like girlsl..... i am very angry at this minute for someone to turn around and literally tell me my child is ugly... it is in her best interest to become a model as she is beautiful and it will start her trust fund and pay for her college or what ever she wants to spend it on..its not like I am going to make her do it when she gets older because that will be her choice but or now i think its a good decision to start her out and to have that little bit of money for her own independence. how am i being a bad parent

My brothers wife drives me crazy!
She always does annoying things and I hate being around her.

Like, last week we went to her house for dinner and instead of sitting at a table and eating normal food- we sat on cushions ate fruit, cheese and watched spartan movies. SHE AND MY BROTHER WORE SHEETS OVER THIER CLOTHES.!! i hate it- everytime we go over we never have normal food! last time we ate with chopsticks and listened to japaneese music!
my mom and my brother think its cute. but i think it is so stupid. everything she does is pointless.

she goes to flea markets, buys old junky furniture and then paints it and uses it in thier house!

everytime she comes to an event at our family's house she talks to my grandad in GERMAN!

and she never wears jeans. she only wears skirts or dresses. even when it's raining!

she just- bugs me.
I'm nice to her face but i hate being around her.

I really thought my brother would have ended up with someone more normal

what do i do?

My little sister, who's 11, will not obey me when I babysit her. I am 13, and I understand that she doesn't want to be bossed around, but my parents gave me the responsiblity. I am suppost to assign her chores, and she refuses to do things. She hits and scratches and screams. I am trying to get her to clean her room, but she won't. I've called my dad, and he can't do anything until he gets home. What should I do? She won't go in time out. Help!

If you had a son in his late 20s who was with a woman in her mid-late 20s for 4 years, and then found out certain things about her past, how would you react?

This girl is succesful, has held the same job for over 5 yrs, and has a lot going for her now. How would you feel and what would you do if you found out she had a drug problem as a teenager and due to that did not graduate high school or go to college? (she has not had any involvement with drugs since she was 18)

My husband's uncle just passed away, and the funeral is Saturday.

I need a sounding board--I don't know what approach I should take as my husband is at work and wants to discuss this when he gets home in a few hours.

The pros of going:
--Support for family

The cons of going:
--10 hour journey with 2 stop, but with a 2 year old who has a really bad cold and myself being nearly 7 months pregnant, it takes around 14 hours to get there.
--I was just diagnosed with gestational hypertension; I'm running, on average, 190/100.
--We're moving on Thursday of next week and still have half of the house to pack.
--ALSO because we're moving, money is fairly tight. With gas prices the way they are now, it would still cost a pretty penny.

As you can tell, I'm leaning against not going BUT I want some other opinions. I'm hormonal and sometimes when you're hormonal, you tend to overreact and not make the best judgement calls.

What do you think?

Some examples are:
1. She was in 11th grade, broke up with her long time boyfriend and couldn't bare to go to school because he was there. Instead wanted to stay home with new boyfriend that dropped out of high school.
2. Decided to quit her job because life is too stressful to go to school and work and that way she can focus more on school. She still failed classes and got kicked out the last week of school because she missed so much. But next year will be better because she will only be going half days.
3. She was suppose to go to summer school but because she did not call, like I told her to,she missed. now she has to go full day next year.

I just don't know what to do with her, I talked, yelled and reasoned still nothing. I'm ready to run away scream. I have explained graduating high school is a requirement but it doesn't seem important to her. She just keeps saying life is too stressful. We have done the couseling thing, didn't help. now what?

ok so my sister isnt in college right now because my mom cant work because she is disabled. im going to be a junior in hs next year and i was thinking that to help my sister be able to back to college is for both of us to work full time and be a part time student at community college.

we dont have that much money but i think and i think i could get into a great school but i think i should just go to community college for my sister, so i can let her get her dream job of being a teacher.

im just wondering if you think that will work or if u have any ideas on how to keep the house pay the other bills and have us both in school while taking care of my brother who will be in hs then. also with helping my mom who will probally never be able to get a job due to arthritus through out her entire body.

im not taking about now but when im in college in aug. 09

My Dad wanted to visit my brother, sister-in-law and his children. He asked my brother and he said that it would not be convenient for them. My brother will be out of town and his daughter who is 6 will be in horseback riding camp all day. She will be cranky and not much fun according to my brother.

I think that this was wrong of my brother. He should have asked his wife to make accommodations for my Dad to visit for a few hours. My parents don't see these grandkids very often. They live about 3000 miles away.

I won't say anything but it just makes me mad. I told my Dad not to go if that's his reaction. They are too protective about thier daughter anyway. She won't get to know her grandfather though if they do this too much. My dad is 73 and not in the best of health.

He was going to visit them for a few hours and then staying with some other friends.

She's been living w/ my mother-in-law for almost 18 months. She messed up, joined bad crowds, was behaving in a really unacceptable way. We had to punish her severely. She apologized, said she regretted and would change. But anyway we were firm, she was grounded from almost evrything for 4 months, had a bad time. Maybe we went overboard, but we wanted to be able to trust her again. This let the girl devasted, she didn't expect that from us, and though she changed got extremely resentful and depressed. Her grandma loves her a lot, had some influence over my hubby, gave the girl love and trust and we agreed she spent some time with her. She moved, made new friends, new school, today is a wondeful girl, but never gor over what happened. Says we didnt trust her, weren't her parents when she needed us most. She doesnt want to come back home and her granma neither. She hardly talks w/ us, avoids us. Should I make her get back home anyway? I feel I'm losing my girl, this is devastating

Just married, I haven't changed my last name yet. I have 3 boys. The youngest 2 are biologically my husband's and have his last name. The oldest has my current (maiden)name. I'm thinking of hyphenating my last name with husband's...reason so oldest child won't ever feel left out not having the same last name as everyone else. I'm not sure if I'm making a big deal out of this. He's 7 and he has told me that he doesn't mind if I just take my husband's last name and he would have the only different last name in the house.
