Okay, today is the 6th which means it is the day of the trial.
Recap: My cousin was shot and killed by his daughter 6 months ago. today was her trial. she lied her way through it and here's what happened.
She only got 2 years! That is bullshit. I'm so mad. She got
2 1/2 but got credit for already being in custody for 6 months. She will be under watch until she is 23 though.

I have to agree with Rachel, ongoing abuse....come on, I'm truly sorry for your loss, but what about the loss your 2nd cousin has gone through, only she knows what really happend, but I'd like to know why no one did anything to help her before the situation ruined so many lives, and I mean her future life as well, she now has lost another 2 years of innocence that has been robbed from her over god knows how many years, I mean inner innocence, the kind you can never get back, again I'm sorry for your loss, but I think she's lost more.

There was no trial! This was a plea bargain, that according to your article, resulted after the state discovered a history of abuse. I can't imagine the horrors that little girl had to endure before finally striking back. If your family is so flipping supportive, why didn't you reach out to help your cousin's CHILD before she became so desperate she killed him?
This plea bargain is more than fair, and I hope that kid gets her stuff together in the next 2 years while she is away from you nutjobs.

I am to take it that she is underage? If she is, there was probably some underlying issues going on and many of them didn't have to do with her dad. But anyway, I would want her to get some counseling while she is in jail because they seem to plan to release her. I would not want a ticking time bomb to be walking around the second time. Iam not saying when she gets out that you be her friend but they have made the decision and its time to find a way so that she doesn't do this again when shes out.

Well of course I can understand, she was abused. If the prosecutors found EVIDENCE that he was abusive to her. She might have turned a little crazy. I know i was ok until my mom married this jerk and she wouldn't believe the way he treated me. I had to go through counseling for 6 years, i had baker acted myself (trying to kill myself) i can understand what this girl may have felt like. But now her consious is hitting her. She does feel guilty and now she is letting her heart cry out. You have to think about how would you feel if that had happened to you? What if your father was abusing you, and felt like killing him to stop the hurt, she probably felt that this was her only way out. I dunno. You can support her, or you don't. It's your decision.

well, from what I read- she pled guilty and was sentenced. Nothing much you can do, but it is an awful situation!
I also read that your cousin was abused by your uncle...is this the part you claim to be a 'lie'? I don't know what really happened between them, but I think that my dad would really have to be awful for me to want to kill him....right?
And she'll have to live with what she did for the rest of her life.

I'm sorry for you being so upset and for your loss. But when there is a history of physical abuse they are most likely to take that into consideration as they have done. I hope that you pray for her, because she is a victim as well.
