My Dad wanted to visit my brother, sister-in-law and his children. He asked my brother and he said that it would not be convenient for them. My brother will be out of town and his daughter who is 6 will be in horseback riding camp all day. She will be cranky and not much fun according to my brother.

I think that this was wrong of my brother. He should have asked his wife to make accommodations for my Dad to visit for a few hours. My parents don't see these grandkids very often. They live about 3000 miles away.

I won't say anything but it just makes me mad. I told my Dad not to go if that's his reaction. They are too protective about thier daughter anyway. She won't get to know her grandfather though if they do this too much. My dad is 73 and not in the best of health.

He was going to visit them for a few hours and then staying with some other friends.

Your brother & his wife were wrong. They should of sent their daughter for 4hrs horseback riding and gave your father atleast 1-2 hr with his grandchild. Its sounds like if its more of an inconvenient for them then the child. If the child was sick thats another story. Your brother was rude and disrespectful. Remeber your brother is getting older what comes around goes around.

I'd probably be a little put out that my dad was travelling 3000 miles and only seeing my family for a few hours and then staying with friends more than anything.

What is your SIL's relationship with your dad? It's going to be her responsibility to ensure that your niece sees her grandfather. If they don't get along well that won't be easy.

Also it is true that if she's in camp all day the evening may be a little draining. Can your grandfather offer an alternative day to visit? Maybe a day your brother may be able to be there?

You're protective of your dad and that's understandable. But sometimes there are other issues that you're unaware of.

Good luck!

EVERY band within the past due 1950's THROUGH the early 1980's (earlier than video made everybody believe you needed to have a beautiful face) has extra skillability than any band or organization you're going to discover at present.

Your brother was perfectly justified in saying no. It's his house and his and his wife's children. It is also NOT his wife's responsibility to drop what she's doing to accommodate your father. She is not a servant, she is a human being who has her own life and things to do. You may think they are rude or dislike their reasons, but it's none of your business. Whatever reasons they have for saying no are good enough for them, and they should be good enough for you.

This is really none of your business. I am sure your brother and SIL have good reasons why they don't want their kids around your father. You need to just stay out of it.
