I've been in your shoes before....I didn't really realize I was depressed until I got medicine. After the medicine I noticed a big difference in my thoughts and feelings. Your doctor will be able to tell/give you something, but make sure it's a low dose.

She could be right. Mom knows you best. She must see a dramatic change in you since your brother left. You might not realize how much of a impact this is for you right now. But I beleive it has left a mark because your distancing yourself from others. That's one big sign of depression. Maybe you need to talk to someone about what happen with your brother and how you really feel about, to let some of that anger and pain out. So then maybe you can enjoy people again. Just my opinion.

It does sound like your mom is right... i would be depressed to if my brother just up and left after he built your trust up to him again. if you are not smiling or being social you may need to go to a dr just to have them test you they do have ways to find out your level of depression. there is also ways of getting out of it and it would be the help of your friends and family. Your parents need to do fun stuff with you and keep you busy from feeling that way. it would be good for all of you since your mom is probably depressed as well. Good luck!! i really am sorry about your brother.

Your brother and you must have been very close. I think your description of not smiling, the silent distance at the wedding, could all be signs of depression. You are grieving; your brother, majorly, disappointed you, this takes time, and it is o.k. to be sad, so long as you do not stay sad. I'm emailing you anyway, seems like a bit of support wouldn't hurt.
Hugs

You may be depressed. I go through it all the time and never notice till I start crying about something little. Best thing to do is tell you mom to back off and spend a whole day by your self.

Your mom is probably correct. You are just not aware of what is taking place deep inside. You need to talk about things in some detail until you have a good long cry. Get it out.

My sister ran away and inside I feel different but outside I act the same. Maybe you want other ppl to feel sorry for you? Not being rude but its just reality.
