this might sound like a dumb question but i never noticed before, well my old alternator went out on my car and so i replaced it with a new one, now that its in, i had the car running for about 5 minutes everything was good, but the alternator seems really hott, normal?

Thinking of buying 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/ 4.7L 158k miles, it runs and looks great i know the mileage seems a bit high but it doesnt smoke and trans feels good..what i was wondering is if there any known problems with these things that i should be aware about with that amount of mileage..its been maintained properly its whole life and appears to have no leaks..mainly freeway miles..what you guys think..give me some info

I have an 1987 (I think) 88 SPL and would like to know if it is possible to increase the hp to 115. I noticed that the stroke and displacement were the same for both engines. If it is possible, how would it be accomplished, and is it recommended. Thank you.

i am workin on a 96 toyota terrcel and the bolt on the bottom of the caliper is stripped and rounded off. I have tried WD-40 and everything else that i know to do so any suggestion would be very helpful and appriciated the bolt is completly rounded off like a circle so pleasehelp me

97 Ford escort 120k Miles. Seems to run pretty good, doesnt burn any oil but leaks a little bit (i check it often and fill when needed) It only seems to flicker when in drive and at an idle.

I have a 1998 Mazda 4 Cylinder engine. It is losing oil pressure, so instead of buying a new car, I would like to replace the engine. So my question to you is how much would a used low mileage Mazda 626 engine be?? Anyone know a good site or place close to Chicago IL to get them at?

I live in South Carolina. Most people get their permit at age 15 and start driving on their own at 15 1/2 (have to wait 6 months)with a restricted.... i never got my permit until a month before my 16 th birthday... Does anyone know if i have to actually wait 6 months even after i turned 16 to even get my restricted/licence?

No, I'm not planning to be like them (heck I can't even drive yet XD) I just find it interesting, the way they turn normal cars to speed machines. Plus they also look pretty cool, how do they do that? What are some of the most popular parts they use?

About a week ago, I started hearing a rattling sound when I turned on my air conditioner. I took it to the shop to get the oil and fluids changed and asked them to look at it. They said my car was fine, but needed it's 70000 mile check up. Three days later, my electrical problems light came on and my ac died. About an hour later the car stopped running in the middle of nowhere. I managed to get back home, but my car is still in the town where I broke down and the mechanic is saying that my harmonic balancer and serpentine belt are missing. What is a harmonic balancer? Is it likely that it would just fall off? How much should it cost to get it replaced? I have no idea if I can trust this mechanic and no way to get a second opinion without paying for a four hour tow to a shop closer to home. Please give me some advice on how to handle this....

My motorcycle was stolen over the weekend, I live in a gated apartment complex..I just walked around my apartment complex to see if there were any signs in visible sight that says "Park at your own risk!" and there is no signs in visible sight of were my bike was stolen nor did I find any throughout the rest of the parking garage....Do I have a legal case with my apartment complex due to the face that it is suppose to be a safe gated community?

I’m turning 16 and I already went through my driver’s ed class and got my permit. (awesome) All I need to do now is schedule a drive. The thing is I am totally scared and nervous about getting on the road. I have not driven before.

Hi My 2001 Camry stopped picking up speed from a standstill, and also blows out (BLUE) smoke when initialy started. A NIGHTMARE TO MERGE ON TO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC (NOt enough acceleration)

I GOT A TUNEUP (replaced air filter engine plugs.. etc) AND HAD THE TIME BELT CHANGED, BUT NO DIFFERENCE

Many people have told me that it MIGHT be due to possible sludge in the engine!!! But when i say i put oil at regular intervals they get confused...

NOW MY QUESTIONs::::

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS IF YOU HAVE ENGINE SLUDGE, AND DOES IT CAUSE VERY SLOW ACCELERATION???
HOW DOES ONE EITER REMOVE OR CLEAN ENGINE SLUDGE??? (ANY GOOD PRODUCTS!!!)

or -- WHAT DO YOU THINK THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE, if its not sludge???

How do you talk them down $1000-2000.

Also, should I be worried when the dealer says I can drive it to my dad or to a mechanic? Some don't say anything but some suggest it.

I know I should look for rust on this car I looked at. Toyota Celica. There was a lot of water in the driver's area only. But it was not wet at the top where something from the engine coulda leaked it. It was definately rain water. They said they fixed it. How do I check it
