I have a 200 BMW 323Ci (coupe). The brake sensor light indicator came on which means I need new pads at least.

BMW dealership always replaces pads AND rotors and quoted $1045(+tax) for my car.

I'm wondering if there is an auto repair shop (i.e. a national chain) that will do brakes on BMWs and doesn't charge such an outrageous amount?

I don't have the tools to do it myself.

Places like Meineke, Goodyear & Monro say they'll do the work but I have to bring it in and have them look at it in person before they'll give me even a ballpark price.

One local business quoted $800...is that reasonable?

Thanks!

My husband sometimes drives my 2006 VW Jetta. It's a manual 5 speed on the floor. When he drives it, he'll start by shifting into 1st, go to 2nd, 3rd, and then shift right into 5th skipping 4th altogether. Is this good for my car? He says it doesn't hurt anything, that it's actually good for gas mileage. I take extra care with my car and I say it can't be good for it. I want him to stop doing it. Someone help. Is this good or bad for my car?

Is there a signal to let the car behind you know that their high beams are on and they are blinding you?

I have a serious case of road rage, and sometimes I want to just stop in the middle of the street and get out the car and cuss the person out, but I know thats not a good idea :-)

Is there another way I could tell them to turn their high beams off??!!

A friend of mine seems to be having a lot of maintenance on his car, I'd like to know if anyone thinks this is excessive, over 6 years he spent $4800 in maintenance taking the car to the
dealer. Is this excessive or normal?

I am purposely not stating the type of car, as I want a general answer. What are your first-hand experiences or what do you think in general?

What is a typical price for replacement of both front brake pads and rotors on a 1997 Nissan Altima GXE? Monroe Muffler and Brake is trying to charge me $449, then they offered me a coupon which brought it to $375. And I said no, because I could get the parts for much cheaper, so now they are saying $250. What is really a good, and fair price for this job (including labor).

i just think it doesn't seem fair, that my neighbour has a blue badge, and although he has just had a knee replacement, he is 42, is quite active, is a driving instructor, and has a company car - is this correct and above board ? Seems very odd, as I didn 't think you were allowed to work if you have a blue badge - help !

I think I would be good as a driving instructor but I don't know anything about the licensing or the insurance. I live in US (Virginia).

My Tomtom navigator has the voice of John Cleese. When he wants you to ignore a turn he says 'beaver left' What does 'beaver' mean in this context. I can't find it in the dictionary.

i just bought an exercise cycle yesterday (this is my first exercise cycle) and whenever i get on the seat i feel a kind of wobble. it only happens when i get on the seat, or sometimes if i ride really hard. i keep my cycle on a dense firm carpet. how do i stop my cycle from wobbling?

another thing that is worrying me is that the cycle had certain cosmetic defects (a motif of minor scratches on the top of the fuselage and a notable black scratch on the side). is it eligible for return. did i get a defective piece or can that happen during transportation? (cuz i dont want no defective machine)
