Can anyone recommend an auto repair shop to fix brakes on a BMW 323Ci?

Question

I have a 200 BMW 323Ci (coupe). The brake sensor light indicator came on which means I need new pads at least.

BMW dealership always replaces pads AND rotors and quoted $1045(+tax) for my car.

I'm wondering if there is an auto repair shop (i.e. a national chain) that will do brakes on BMWs and doesn't charge such an outrageous amount?

I don't have the tools to do it myself.

Places like Meineke, Goodyear & Monro say they'll do the work but I have to bring it in and have them look at it in person before they'll give me even a ballpark price.

One local business quoted $800...is that reasonable?

I'd like to give you some middle ground sound advice. Do some research and find some American, Canadian or British brake rotors. NAPA's best line, Car Quests best, AC-Delco, Wagner, EBC (British) brake rotors. All Auto Zone rotors are off -shore

All the repair shops you've listed above use off-shore inexpensive rotors and charge the costomer the price of top shelf brands. Sad but very true. It's done every minute of every day.

There a couple if sites where you can learn about brake pads and your preferance for the type of driving you do. Hawk and EBC have sites that offer many types of pads to match your cars braking system.
Organic pads are the cleanest they do not dust -up with the usual red / grey / brown brake dust as do semi-metalic or full metalic pads, these also chew up brake rotors.
Today, ceramic pads are cleaner than all metallics but not as clean as organic pads.
My advice to you is pick out your own parts and have an independant mechanic or new car dealer do the work. You'll not spend $1,045.00 or even $800.00.

their all going to be a little higher ,because its a BMW ,and even though the parts don't cost that much more for them,mechanics still charge more for working on them,id check around ,there are places that will do it cheaper than that ,800 is a little high on that one,it doesn't cost that much to replace all the brakes on those,i know because i own a shop and do this also,normal price should be around 550 at the most,and that's for a complete brake job,good luck with it.

the light is on cuzz the pads wore down to the sensors most likley
find a shop that you can trust is the main
thing
best way is ask friends and family were they take their cars
bmw brakes are not cheap
