are unstable and the walls could split open at any time,and it was dangerous to drive. The treads look good. I just drove it 250 miles on a trip. Is this a sales pitch to buy more of these $200 tires or could this really be? The car does ride somewhat rough and hard.

Ditch the vogue tires.
Yes they are American made, and they are not very good at all for road driving.
They are custom made - hand built.
And they were pretty popular to be put on the 70's and 80's model OLD's cutlass and Buick Regal.
As for the 99 Caddy, I would go with a cooper

If I were you I certainly would have another tire dealer or better yet independent mechanic inspect the tread, sidewall, and bead area for cracks, weather-checking, uneven tread wear, Tire: tread depth inspection
When ever in doubt, get a second opinion. Possibly you may go on your Yahoo home page and enter the tire problems individually, such as: Tire: weather - checking.
Not to repeat myself but be sure to enter any tire concern one at a time. It may be necessary to Yahoo: Automotive Tire: tread-wear, Automotive Tire: Sidewall inspection.

You need to check the load rating for your tires, ask a tyre specialist what certain type of tyre your Cadillac should have. If the tyre cannot take the weight of the car they are prone to split.

Get a second opinion, don't give any details just get them to check your tires and let them tell you , But do tell them it rides rough and hard, It could be something else hope this helps

those tires are no longer in vogue..lol...if they are riding crappy its for a reasion... if u dont care keep them...ME ? i would get new BFGs or something good....go to tire rack and look.
