My husband's dear Aunt decided to start giving me as birthday and Christmas gifts a pattern of chinaware that I really do not like. I told my husband and he feels I should accept the gifts and put the chinaware away in a cupboard and just use it when she visits. I feel we should mention to my Aunt that we don't like the pattern and ask that perhaps she could get another pattern - we don't have enough room for two sets of dishes. I feel terrible as I love this lady and I know she is kind to give the gifts... but I can envisage having hundreds of pieces of china in a pattern I don't like, stored in a huge cupboard ..... this is causing some conflict between my husband and I.
I don't want to sound ungrateful - I just would rather have nothing than have someone spend their hard-earned money on something we will just store away....
thanks!

Our receptionist will be leaving on Moday. This Friday, we had a party and she gave me a gorgeous watch. I felt bad because I had nothing for her. Is it better to go out now and get her something or just leave it alone. Would it seem like I was just doing it to reciprocate?

I was just at a high school basektball game to watch my youngest brother play. Everything was going fine until the varsity was getting ready to start. The team my brother's team was playing has this player whom is going to get the state's record for most points(i live in ohio, his name is Jon Diebler)...anyways...when they were anouncing the starters, after everyone for our team was announced..they would go "he's nobody!"....how rude is that?! And before the game the announced that this Jon guy was nominated for the all american team...just nominated...and they went nuts and were shouting things at our team....like "at least we have a player whom can get nominated" and such. This guy probably won't ever play in the NBA...and he's not that bad of a player or anything...i give him credit..but its his fans!!....

Why can't fans be less obnoxious?

When I see people in the grocery store wearing their pajamas, I just think that they are lazy and dirty...and it's not just the pajamas, it's also their bedroom slippers. When exactly did this become fashionable and why?

A while back a wife of my husband's co-worker (who I didn't know at all) decided that I was a good target for gossip. I'm not 13 (and Lord knows SHE ISN'T) and so I chose not to respond to her.

Well her own friend has now called me complaining about her. I don't hang around these women and don't see or hear from them hardly, but how do I tell this new girl that I don't want to hear it? I don't want to sound like a mean person, so how do I say politely, "I don't want to hear this drama!!!!"

Thanks :)

O.K. is it more rude to be on your cell talking to a friend while driving to the grocery store with your significant other sitting next to u in the car....who u see every single day b/c u practically live together?

Or be on your cell in a room full of ppl during a small get together at a friends house just chatting to a friend?

I am switching jobs and already gave my former boss notice. I really enjoyed working there and am leaving on good terms. It is a small business and all employees and the boss are close. I know it is appropriate to say thank you, but can I give my boss a thank you card saying I appreciated the opportunity to work there?

WIth business travel spreading like wildfire and hosts and guests trying hard to please business associates confusion is order of the day. I was trained to bow to Japanese so when my partner from Japan showed up I bowed and he landed a karate chop on my nose. Seems like he was trying to shake hands. To an American I extended my hands and timing.. timing... timing .. he blasted my hand in the air with a Namaste he was probably trained to do at an Ivy League school. The other day a Maori gentleman grabbed my ears and rubbed my nose. Any cues to follow before unleashing the gesture of the day? Ideas, suggestions?

Smoking is banned indoors at my Univeristy and everyone has to smoke outside. This is fine but now all of the smokers congregate right outside of the doors at the entrance of the building. Every day I go to class and have to walk through a cloud of smoke and hold my breath. Why are they allowed to smoke right outside of the door?

I think smokers should have to go to the side of the building or far away from the doors to smoke.

I have asthma and can't stand smoke at all. I don't think that it is right to have to hold my breath and basically run inside to keep from smelling cigarette smoke. Non-smokers shouldn't be inconvienienced.

What do you think? Does it bother you when people smoke at the main entrance of buildings?

all the people who are invited (except, of course, me) are best friends with the girl who invited us, and i've just gotten to know her. I'm scared because I might be left out, and it wont be fun if i dont know anybody......
(plus, i cant just leave in the middle of it all because i'm only 13 and my parents are driving me)

I keep seeing all these questions here that could be easily found with one search on google/yahoo/etc. Are people just getting lazy to search it themselves? How long could it take, three seconds? Maybe thirty if you have dial-up, but really. And there are so many stupid and repeated questions - has anyone else noticed the green search bar near the top of the page?

I'm thinking that people are getting lazier, but some questions have so many spelling and grammatical errors in it, I can't tell what they're asking - it really makes me wonder.
