Sigh - my neighbor, who lives directly accross the street from me has invited me to YET ANOTHER jewely "party."
She sells these really expensive baubles to suplement her income & I DON'T want them!
I am constantly being invited to these types of parties & I do mean CONSTANTLY. I always say NO & they continue to invite me.
I really really really think this is rude to make your friends & neighbors feel uncomfortable & obligated.
I have a JOB where I make money - I don't try to force my friends to buy stuff from me so I don't have to work.
I know, I know - everyone's gonna say - just don't show up! But I live right accross the street from this lady & she checks with me over & over again every time she invites me to one of these things to make sure I will be there. Also - if I say I can't attend, she will give me the catalog & force me to buy something.
I KNOW I should be HONEST with her & tell her I just don't want this stuff. But I feel bad & her husband passed away & etc.

Is it rude to invite people over for pizza, and then expect everyone to pay for it ? It seems to me that is you say, "why don't you guys come over and we'll get pizza?" instead of "why don't you come over and we can all chip in to get pizza?" that it's assumed that the host is going to cover it. I'm interested in other's viewpoints. (The people involved are all working professionals in their 30's.)

Quietly put up with it? Politely put up with it and say nothing out loud? Enjoy their smoke? Pretend you don't mind? Bluntly tell them they stink? Politely ask them to move away? Just say nothing and move away yourself? Glare at them and say nothing out loud? Be rude and snap at them? Tell them quietly that you do not want them to smoke around you? Lecture them openly about how dumb it is to smoke cigarettes? Just passively endure their smoke as if it is not harming you? Pretend you do not even know that it is harming you? Tell them you would prefer that they do not smoke their cigarettes around you? Tell them honestly that they are being foolish if they smoke their cigarettes even when they are not around you? Feel concerned that they are harming themselves? Just not care if they choose to harm themselves, even when you care about their well-being?

There are so many options. What do you consider the right way to react?

OK, so I'm a bit of a computer junky. If it's got a keyboard and monitor I'm in front of it.

My family and I visit my sister often, at least once or twice a week. When we visit I usually sit with them in the living room while on my laptop. I listen to what they talk about and I occasionally take part in general conversation. Is it rude that I am working, surfing the net or playing a game while there? I bought a laptop specifically so that I could be with them instead of sitting at the desktop. When responding please keep in mind that I DO NOT do this when visiting w/friends or relatives that I haven't seen in awhile.

Hey I've been ok, trust you are,
I really wanted to and held myself back
from sending you flowers, I loved to(o).

No need to rehash the fine
then rocky start,
twists and turns
of a weathered heart
Too late

Nary just tonight
where sentiments lie
where sleep forsaken
stirs time of
half-heartily-healed
thoughts in mind
Of fate
This I wrote two fortnights hence:(nearer to a night not unlike tonight)
(For) someday if I too am free
that I may wish to be with thee

please accept this as a token in part
for the time you warmed my heart

penned and never sent...(know we are as birds in flight)

This I stop myself from the start
fail as I may in the loving part
May many roses come your way
as beautiful thoughts in mind
at least one everyday
Shall I do give
one of any rose or bouquet
will sometime
think of you
May I always hold the good part
know not if you were free
how I would hold you in my heart still
away your belated valentine
in kind
of time

When I was 19 I left home for the first time. I was going to study in America and I remember my father taking me to one side at the airport shortly before I went through to departures.
He said he had a useful gift for me, a tip to stand me in good stead and a word of advice I should consider.

The gift? Some compactable, handbag safe, nail scissors. I still have them and they really are quite useful.
The tip? Always warm the pot before making tea. He was right... it makes a difference!
The advice? If you see someone on a street corner moving as if dancing to new age music yet there is no music present. Someone who looks like they are dodging imaginary raindrops for no apparent reason. Someone who looks like they are morphing back from a dream sequence in that wavy way they did that special effect in old movies... Well, just remember, it could be God. After all he does move in mysterious ways.

Ok my dad had a sense of humour but....

My bf and I live in a two-bedroom with a friend. He has his own room, but for the last couple of months he's constantly been falling asleep on the couch(es). He stays up late playing on his laptop, and falls asleep right where he's at. I work third shift, and I am sick of coming home at 5AM to him passed out in our "common living area." We've talked to him about it, and now he has switched to falling asleep on the couch that HE brought to the apt, apparently thinking this is acceptable, because it's his. How do I get it through his head that it still interferes with our ability to use the living room, and is rude?

OK so I was wondering what to do...? My boyfriend is a first year firefighter and I understand that the other firefighters like to mess around and play jokes on the "new guys" well today my boyfriend called me pissed off because he had taken his new laptop to work to use to study and walked away for a while and when he came back someone had been on it. turns out they went to a bunch of porn sites and then tried to delete them in the history so he wouldn't know and he ended up getting a major virus. his computer started getting a bunch of pop ups and just totally got screwed up!. my boyfriend isn't the type to confront the guys on this but he said he would talk to his captain when he got on shift I don't think that he really will and this really upsets me I mean he should be able to trust these guys with his stuff and someone should atleast offer an apology of some kind. would it be wrong for me to call up his captain or go talk to his captain about this??

I am going to a clothing optional beach tommorow!!!?
My name is Ed and I am going to a clothing optional beach tommorow with my friends Taylor, Naomi, Kayla, Faith, and Amanda. Yes its me and 5 of my girl friends. We are all in college. I dont get to see any of them naked because they will be wearing there bikinis they said but I was told I could go nude tommorow. Should I go naked? I really want to. I am about 5ft 9 200 lbs. I have a little gut on me and I am 3.5 in down below but I am hoping I wont get excited. Do men get excited on these beaches? Will it happen to me? Will they be mad if it happens?

I have a rude co-worker who consistently calls me out on things. I'll admit, I'm not a perfect worker. I do make the occasional mistakes while at work, but is anyone perfect. I get along well with almost everyone at my job and my bosses consider me a pretty decent worker; not the best, but certainly not the worst.

I often find this co-worker calling me out on the little things I do wrong at work, or trying to imply that I did something/said something wrong. The mistakes I tend to make, happen to be very common ones that a majority of my co-workers also make.

Perhaps, I'm being too sensitive, but I really hate being put on the stop like that. I usually don't say anything, because I am a somewhat passive person and I'm also try not to take things too personally. But, it's starting to bother me because I keep questioning what makes this person any better then myself.

We are the same age, and while she has been with the company longer and has senioriority

Stepping onto the court when the game is taking place down at the other end and then freaking out when their own team steals the ball and quickly comes down to score, but yet get mad about it.

Taking up a third of a teams practice court before a game to practice their tumbles and what not and not caring if the other team is warmed up or not. Basketball takes skills, not everyone can go out and play...i know i can't.

alright so all day i have been very very hung over. i woke up naked in my bath tube and my bed was covered in vomit. my building has washing machines but you need quarters to use them. anyways i set the put all my sheets and stuff this morning in the wash. after 1 wash i wasn't satisfied and spent the money for the dryer on another wash. anyways. then i took a 7 hour nap and don't have any money for drying. now its 12 at night and all i want to do is sleep but i only have wet sheets. in need to do at least 2 drys. so 12 quarters.

i have a debit card/atm only. no cash. the nearest ATM is about 1/4 mile, which i would have to walk and i dont wanna. its cold (i live in boston).

i can change coins and one dollar bills into quarters at the soda machine. but i would need to get change for anything bigger (5,10...) there are a few restaurants around. im not sure if they will give me cash back.

maybe those facts will be useful. i don't know. i really dont want to leave my apartment.
