People dont like to admit they are wrong both to other people and themselves. They perceive it as a sign of weakness. Ironicaly!

I have a hard time apologizing to those close to me, like family or my husband. But I try to make it a point to apologize, even if I feel that I did nothing wrong, or the other person had more fault. This is not easy b/c an apology is synonymous with admitting you are wrong. Most people don't believe they are wrong, so feel they shouldn't apologize. In my opinion, whether you are wrong or right, apologies mean the world to the other person. If it is heartfelt and sincere, its worth the time and effort. I need to practice this more with my husband though!

I think people don't apologize because that means they have to admit that they have done something wrong; they don't want to believe that, so they just pretend it never happened. I would like to recommend that you do apolgize when necessary; the world is bad enough with what little manners are present, these days, and good manners are the lubricant that keeps an already inefficient machine running halfway smoothly. Good day to you.

I think we are becoming a little more arrogant and spoiled as a society. I am a chronic apologizer:) Last week I bumped into someone at grocery store and they yelled at me for saying sorry are you ok? LOL I think if you feel you are at fault apologize. It will make you feel better and show you are a compassionate person in the long run!!

Consider:

First, for some people apologizing comes very easy to anyone (strangers and loved one alike), while for others it is very difficult for them to even forgive themselves!

Also, you never know what someone is coming from or going to...they might be mad or upset one day and the nicest person the next day. People are not static. People are dynamic. Smart people sometimes do stupid things, and polite people can sometimes be rude. We have to understand and respect that.

For example, one day I could not hold open a door for a women because my arm was injured...and of course that was the day that someone chastised me for not having manners...of course they didn't know...

So perhaps being considerate of others really includes not just going out of your way to help or apologize, but also to understand that at times we can all forget or not be able to.

Their pride. For some their ignorance. Is difficult for some to apologize and others just don't care. I am quick to apologize when I have done something I shouldn't have or that I didn't realize was offensive to someone else.

Most times I'm delighted to apologize when I'm wrong. It wipes the slate clean, like a confession. A really great feeling. However, I don't always do it. . .stuck on my stupid pride, I guess.

PRIDE.

99% of the time it is pride. The other 1% is that they don't know how to apologize, or are dead, or are mute, or tied up and gagged, or otherwise incapable.

As long as you forgive people who hurt you and apologize when you need to, you'll be fine. You should forgive anyway, whether they apologize or not. It's up to Jesus Christ to judge them.
