I see changing tables in them sometimes, why have a seperate restroom for this? And why do they have baby accessories handy? People should bring there own if they are responsible/

I think family restrooms are meant for parents who have small children of the opposite gender who are too big to go with them to the restroom, but too small to be left alone in another restroom.

They're also intended for mothers who need to nurse, handicapped folks who need assistance, etc.

First, it is handy for parents who have a young child of the other sex. It is very hard when a mom has a son and he is really too big for the ladies room, and you just can't send your little boy alone into a men's room where you cannot enter. It is just not safe, and the same is true with fathers and daughters.

As for the baby products, when you have a baby, it is easy to run out of needed things before you realize it, or have a multi-wipe emergency and have used all the wipes on your toddlers hands and have no way to clean the baby.
Family restrooms are great when I travel alone with my son and daughter, so I never have to be separated from either of them when I am the only adult in very public place.

I haven't found the one with the baby supplies yet, but I use the family room alot. I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old who loves to wander. When I use the restroom, the 4 yr old does too, so it literally becomes a family event. Instead of trying to keep the 1 yr old from crawling on the floor looking for a way to escape under the stall door, a little room to ourselves is best. They are also a little bigger than a handicap stall which is necessary to fit the stroller.

Family restrooms are intended for moms and/or dads who may have different sexed children - like a dad taking his daughter or mom taking her son when the kid might be a little old to visit the opposite gender restroom but too young to go in to their 'proper' restroom alone. And, recognizing that dads sometimes change their little ones you see more and more changing stations in men's rooms as well. Supplies are rarely provided but it's nice when they are available for unplanned emergencies! Little ones don't always check if there's sufficient supplies before having accidents.

well according to my husband not alot of mens rooms have changing tables for infanys and kids still in diapers..and if my husband takes my 4 y/o to the grocery store and she has to go potty is he supposed to take her into the mens room,or let her go into the ladies room by herself...what about the mom that has more then one kid..the family rooms are generally larger so you can have all your children with you and not have 3 or 4 people crammed into one stall

do you bring your own toliet paper, soap and paper towels into public bathrooms so you are prepared

They are primarily for fathers who might have to take their children shopping now and then and need to change and feed them etc. Mothers of little boys who dont want to let them go alone into a men's bathroom use them too. They are a great idea. It's about time someone thought of parents and children.

Why should someone have to supply their own changing table. As if you don't have enough to carry with the baby, diapers, wipes,a toy,a clean mat, diaper rash ointment, etc.
