Our receptionist will be leaving on Moday. This Friday, we had a party and she gave me a gorgeous watch. I felt bad because I had nothing for her. Is it better to go out now and get her something or just leave it alone. Would it seem like I was just doing it to reciprocate?

I would definately get her something, since she gave you the watch. That was really sweet of her. No, it wouldnt look like that at all. It would be returning the kindness.*

Get her a gift now. Make sure you include a card with it that says how much you appreciate her work. If you write sincerely it should make up for the late gift, you can even write on their, sorry I didn't have the gift ready for your party (you don't have to say why). It is better for her to leave with goodness and happy thoughts than wondering why you didn't get her a gift. Always end things in a good way, you never know when this topic will come up again or when you'll run into her.

Was the party paid by you and your other co-workers? If yes, then it's quite fine to leave it alone. If she paid for the party, then it would be good that you get her something. It's never too late.

How close are you to her? Don't feel bad that you didn't have anything for her. If your close to her get her something and say that you wanted to wait until her last day

As a friend (since she got you a gift), then yes.

As a co-worker, no.
