all the people who are invited (except, of course, me) are best friends with the girl who invited us, and i've just gotten to know her. I'm scared because I might be left out, and it wont be fun if i dont know anybody......
(plus, i cant just leave in the middle of it all because i'm only 13 and my parents are driving me)

Just go and be vivacious and outgoing and try to have a good time. I had a rouhg time with that when I was 13...I was always apt to overthink things and work myself up into a real case of the nerves.

But trust me, you CAN have a good time with perfect strangers. Don't let them leave you out! Go in there an make them love you!

And above all, have fun!

Chances are there will be other girls in the same situation. Look around for another solo person and be brave . . . walk up to her and open the conversation with something like "Hi, my name is "so and so" . . . how did you meet/get to know/ your friend?" or "How long have you known her?" or . . . pay her a compliment like - I like your top or shoes or whatever. Smile and be brave enough to say 'hi' first - chances are others will appreciate your friendly gesture. It's a party and there's bound to be some games too that help people get to know each other. It's a little bit of a sweaty situation but it's a great time to practice your social skills. Think of a bunch of questions before you go. If you don't see a solo person then look for a small group of 2-3 who are talking and ease your way into the group saying, "do you mind if I join you? i don't know anyone here." Again . . . most likely the people will accept you - hopefully nobody will be rude! If they are then say - oh, sorry to intrude and look for another friendlier group. It will be their bad not yours. Worst case, call your parents and say you've had enough. Good for you for going alone though. I'll bet you have fun.

This is a great time to make some new friends. Go with a positive attitude and a big smile.

Just relax and don't worry, be yourself and ask other people about themselves. It's the best way to start a conversation. People love to tell you about themselves.
