My niece will be turning 2 in just over a month. For her first Christmas I stuffed a huge gift bag with stuff. The only thing she ever really played with inside were the books. For her first birthday I got her a lot of books. for her second Christmas I decided to get her clothes instead. I know her favorite toys are books. Whenever no one's around she'll grab a book and look at it for hours. We'll for this birthday I still want to give her books but something a little more so she can do something besides look at them. I bought some crayons and a coloring book. What else should I get her? Clothes are out of the question. Also can anyone suggest any particular books she might like. They have to be paper.

I'm babysitting a girl who is 2 years old. Her mom is working in the basement in her office, but the little girl isn't allowed to go down there. She gets upset because she knows her mom is there. WHat are some things I can do to keep her entertained and happy?

She doesn't like books, I've tried that. I'm not allowed to take her anywhere besides her backyard. She'll watch TV, but only if you force her. I'm 14 years old and I'm totally bored. Do you have ideas to keep me from getting bored and still keep this little girl happy and entertained?

I have take her to see her pediatrician who has said that it is some type of allergy and put her on benedryl and a topical hydrocoritisone. Has anyone else had this experiance with their toddler?

But his parents are taking his music away...Is he a prodigy?

He knows how to play "ring-a-ring-a-roses" I just discovered this a few weeks back and told his parents (my uncle and aunt).

But they said to leave him alone - I don't want my cousin to lose his ability!

He also seems to read A LOT and has amazed me...I gave him shred of Grey's Anatomy (the book) and he REALLY likes it.

What can I do, he seems to be gifted but his parents hate the idea of him doing this...

What do I do?

He also doesn't speak.

Hi everyone! I have a daughter who is 26 months old & she is a very intelligent little girl when she wants to be, she's very stubborn & does things when she wants to. She potty trained at 19 months old, she can get up & turn her Barney DVD on by herself & she knows most of her basic colors. She doesn't seem to be talking like she should though. I mean she talks some but I hear some parents talk to their kids at two & carry on conversations with them. She's been having a lot of tantrums lately too & it's so weird because she was like the most perfect baby you could have imagined. I'm starting to worry about autism. She's very anti-social & she lines things up & like blocks or bottles but if one of them falls over she freaks out. I'm not exactly sure what's wrong & is there anything that I can do to help with her speech so maybe she doesn't always feels so frustrated?

My son got a new LittlePeoples firetruck for his b-day. Most of our Little People stuff is cousin handme downs and rummage sale buys. And they're always changing the base of the people! ARRRGH. They must figure they'll sell more toys when one set doesnt fit with the next.

I would like to volenteer to sanitize my daugter's daycare. I'm very upset that I've lost some jobs because she gets sick constantly at this daycare. I just re-enrolled her into the same daycare center again because it's the only near my home, but after the 3rd day, she's been throwing up all night.

Do I have any legal rights to complain about this? I've seen workers not wash their hands after helping kids use the bathroom! I want to volenteer my time to help clean up this daycare. Has anyone else done this? Are there any legal options I have if they dont start cleaning the place?

My eldest son is nearly 3 and most days refuses to have a day sleep.
I never pressure him cause i assume he doesn't need a sleep any more.
He then goes to bed quite easy as 7 pm.
do other mothers experience this?
thanks

A good friend of mine has a 3 year old that ALWAYS wears shoes and socks even around the house. I have been over there late at night and he will still be wearing them. The other day I was over at her house. She put him down for his nap shoes and all! I of couse did not ask why because its not my place to question her parenting, but it just seemed odd. I was thinking he maybe likes keeping them on or she does not want to bother having to put them back on. Ever seen this before? I find myself putting shoes on my daughter when I go over there just so I do not look like a poor parent lol.
