Well, you could start by not calling the child names like "butt."
1 year olds are 1 year old; they do not know good behavior. Most 1 year olds act inappropriately because of their immaturity, and because their parents do not work to divert bad behavior and teach good behaviors instead.
So, the better question is, how do YOU get to be a better parent to a misbehaving 1 year old?

Don't use words like butt for a start.
Your child is ONE, you have all the control and you can't discipline him?
A firm no works wonders, a tap on the hand, moving them to a new thing to think about, putting them in the crib with some toys if you need a break!
For yourself, your child and society, take some parenting classes--PLEASE.

all 1 yr. old's are butts..lol
they ALL throw tantrums, hit, bite, throw toys and bottles, and especially there food onto the floor you JUST mopped..lol
The only thing you can do is love them, and teach them right from wrong.
Kids at this age need consistency! meaning if your gonna use time-out as a dicipline measure then use it every time soemthing is done wrong otherwise they will pick-up that when mommy is tired I can get away with that.

LoL? You people asking questions like this are really getting dependant on our answers...and your questions are also getting less and less real common sense in them! At least say what you mean by what you're saying,or describe more thoroghly. So,either learn how to write good,easy-to-answer questions,or go see a psychiatrist.

All actions are learned-your child is not doing anything to upset you on purpose-set rules and boundaries to keep them in line. Calm down and know that this too will pass....

you are a bad mom if you think your 1 year old knows that she is being naughty... that is the age...just wait till they are 2 and 3....then 13....you'd better learn some patience.....
