It ALWAYS ahppens that way. They have an extra set of eyes that are permanently in the bathroom!! I really hate when my kids want me and I'm in the bathroom. When they are really little it is unavoidable but, I made it clear to my kids as early on as possible that I want to be left alone when I am in the bathroom. Like a friend of mine says -- unless you're bleeding. Don't give them any positive feedback from the bathroom. Don't respond at all. Tell them in advance that you will not respond at all. And tell them when you are going to be in the bathroom and tell them to leave you alone for the time you are in there and that it will be a few minutes. Tell them when you get out so they know the time has ended. If they are still too young to be able to understand this at all, then unfortunately I don't ahve any advice for how to deal with the issue other than that you just ahve to. If they are old enough, make it clear and stick to it!!

Know what you mean! My two, they're only 6 and 4, can unlock the bathroom door on the outside (it's a safety one) so come barging in.
Another one is, I wait until they're settled playing a game or watching tv and I want to make an important phone call. They can have been quiet for ages but as soon as the person picks up the other end when I ring, both of them are suddenly 'MUMMY!!!' and come in and start talking to me!

I have a son and my boyfriend has a 5 1/2 y.o. daughter and 4 y.o. son.....I have to get in on this one. My 2 1/2 year old son just barges in like he owns the place and thinks it is the coolest thing to crouch down and watch what's taking place. LOL needless to say he's potty training and thinks pottying is just the COOLEST thing in the world!! And when I start giving the boys a bath, THAT would be the time that Bryannah has to go do #2. Oh the joy of having kids!!!!!

I think it something they cant help my 3 yr old now races me to the toilet saying "I go potty first" my 8 and 11 yr old still just walk in and talk to me when I go. I think it is one of those things that come with being a parent. Like how they are all quiet until you pick up the telephone then all hades breaks loose.

My son is 16 months, and he usually tries to follow me to the bathroom every time. I've learned to shut the door as soon as I get into the bathroom. he started knocking on the door as well. I personally think it's a form of attention, but I really dunno.
It doesn't really bother me, but I have 2 boys, and a hubby plus I grew up woth 3 little brothers so I've always been around boys..lol.
Perhaps say "hold on a sec. ask me when I'm finished" if they continue to ask, just ignore them till your done..after awhile they will get the hint....Good Luck

For the same reason babies wake up just as you sit down for dinner and kids knock on the bedroom door just as you and your husband are about to have some fun. They have a sixth sense!

My grand daughter actually follows me into the bathroom and sits on the edge of the bath while she ask her question. Then she wants to have a running conversation...I have to say to her..."I wouldn't sit there for too long if I were you"
Lol
