all over her upper body and bottom. No new meds, food, washing liquid have been introduced recently. I don't live in a neighborhood prone to ticks. I have take her to see her pediatrician who has said that it is some type of allergy and put her on benedryl and a topical hydrocoritisone. Has anyone else had this experiance with their toddler?

Hives can come from anything. My son got them when someone held him and he had a reaction to her perfume. I got them when i was 7 because of a reaction to the chicken pox that my brother had at the time. I'm allergic to the virus. I would make sure to wash the clothes he had on and bedding, etc. In case it was from a fragrance or perfume.

I've had that same issue with my son that started probably at the age of 2/12 to three or so. Though I always keep my house as sanitized and disinfected as I possibly can, he still shot up with them probably once or twice. Too, same as you, We've not introduced anything new as in foods, detergents or have any pets for that matter. But all that to say is that the pediatrician had perscribed Benadryl and some type of topical ointment to me too, which I found to be a little complicated for me to deal with, as I wanted to know what caused it and how to reduce or fight recurrence. He's five now, and since then he's had about two or three more cases. Sometimes I would have applied rubbing alcohol to the sites (after a warm bath), and after the alcohol maybe cornstarch. Guess you can try calamine lotion, there's a powder called caldasene powder, you can ask a pharmacist what they would suggest. Poor Dear, hope it clears up soon. I even tried rubbing ice-cubes over the sites, just to bring some relief or soothing. The things a mom won't do to make her kids feel more comfortable huh...:)

My daughter, who just turned three, just went through this. the first time we just treated it the same way your pediatrician recommended, with hydrocortisone creme and benadryll. But then it happened a second time, and the hives really bothered her, so we took her to an allergist to have an allergy scratch test done. They found she was highly allergic to tree pollens, but thats about it. So its possible on those days she had contact with that.

If it happens again, it may be worth checking with an allergist. HOpe this helps!!

Yes! My 15 month old started getting hives Sunday. By Monday they got worse but they wren't bothering her a bit so we still sent her to daycare.

Daycare called that afternoon-she had a fever. I took her to the doctor but they still thought allergy. By Tuesday night the fever was really high-yesterday it went down but I still called the doctor again and this time the doctor said it was viral-she had now seen other cases wtih a fever AND hives.

Today she was FINE and the hives have almost completely faded.

I think my son was older -- maybe 6 or so, I don't really remember but, he had unexplained hives on and off for several months. The doctor said it was a virus. I never knew hives could be a virus but, when they explained the symptoms it all fit and made sense. It went away as mysteriously as it appeared

Yes, 3 times and we don't know what caused it any of the times. Benedryl makes my daughter hyperactive so after the first time we didn't give her anything for it. For some reason hers never itches.

My brother developed an allergy to abalone that broke him into hives. It could be something she ate that she has developed an allergy to. Have her checked by a good allergy specialist. If it is something avoidable, you probably want to know.

Yes, but my daughter just had her first dose of penicillin.

My son gets massive hives over fire ant bites (we live in TX). His allergies and asthma were so bad he had to take prednisolone for a while.

is it posable she could have goten stung by a bee when she was sleeping? also if you have ac try clening your air ducts and filters sometimes small spors can get in and drive a child crazy with hives. i know i get hives and i spray lysol on everything clean the filters and a day or two later it goes away.
