does anyone knows why my 3yr old kid yawns when he's already asleep? is there anything wrong? i find it really strange.

Yawning is the body's way of getting more oxygen into the system. (We yawn when we are tired because more oxygen helps us relax and sleep.) A person doesn't have to be awake to yawn.

It is strange, but I can't think of a real issue behind it that should cause concern.

Maybe he is not fully asleep...There are different realms of sleep and maybe he is not in a deep sleep yet..Just a thought...
