I would like to volenteer to sanitize my daugter's daycare. I'm very upset that I've lost some jobs because she gets sick constantly at this daycare. I just re-enrolled her into the same daycare center again because it's the only near my home, but after the 3rd day, she's been throwing up all night.
Do I have any legal rights to complain about this? I've seen workers not wash their hands after helping kids use the bathroom! I want to volenteer my time to help clean up this daycare. Has anyone else done this? Are there any legal options I have if they dont start cleaning the place?

Ok, this morning I just drove down to my daughters daycare to withdraw her and fill out the necessary papers. My daughter puked all the way there and now I have vomit all over in my car. I'm very angry!
To top it off, I'm still required to pay for another two weeks!! Is there anyway I can sue them to get out of paying for another two weeks? I refuse to let my daughter stay there anymore, and this morning I picked up all over her belongings.

For your daughters sake, enrol her in a different one.

They have to keep it at a certain level of cleanliness and follow specific cleaning procedures in some cases. If they don't, they can get in trouble with the Licensing Agency and Health Department. The difficulty here is proving it. When the government is there watching, they will always do things by the book. This varies some from state to state, but I can't imagine anyone allowing them to skip out on washing hands after helping a child with the bathroom. This is the first thing I WANT to do when I help a child with the bathroom.
If you bring it up with them and nothing changes, you can report it. But it is not likely to change again, unfortunately. These are things the staff has to want to implement for the right reasons or they will not work.
Hate to say it...but you may need to look for another option if they don't change.

First I'm a day care provider and you can come help sanatize my center anytime you want! That is one job that is never complete!
You certainly have a right to complain about it, call your Dept. of Children and Families (child abuse) and tell them what you have told us. They can do an investigation and mandate hand washing and such. You are certainly well within your rights.
On the other hand, children that interact with other children will often be sicker than others, but it's also been proven that they build better immunities to most common illnesses by the time they reach school age. So really, don't blow it off that your daughter is sick more often, but as long as it's not serious, it's nothing to worry about. In fact it's helping her.... sounds weird I know, but true.
Conclusion.... feel free to offer to volunteer at your day care anytime... you aren't approved by the state to work for them at this point, but if you tell them you would like to volunteer your time to after hours clean up they will most likely be eager to oblige. If you aren't satisfied or they seem to hesitate even, you should start looking into other centers where you would feel more comfortable, just try not to move her around too much, they need stability.

If they're not washing their hands, what else are they cutting corners on? Daycare centers are notorious for being germy. You should probably start looking around for another place. You shouldn't have to give up your time to clean the place, you pay them a lot of money to provide a safe environment for your child.
How about contacting the state? Maybe they could send someone over ther to check out the conditions?

You cannot realistically do this. Even if they would let you, to actually work, you'd have to do it every day and how are you going to get employees to wash their hands??? (This is probably the biggest problem with contagion.)
You need a new daycare because even if you go to the step of reporting them to the authorities - which you can do - you're going to be pretty unpopular there and you won't want to leave your child with them under those circumstances, believe me.
Find a new place and report the current one.

first of all, never take you child there again. second report them asap. any child can get many and very terrifying illnesses. third, go to your local unemployment office, they have a whole list of qualifying and well trained people who do child care with a list of references to back them. I had the same problem with my sons daycare back about 8 years ago. He ended up with ecoli poisoning and was hospitalized for two weeks. your child's health shouldn't be in danger every time you take them to daycare. good luck

Go to the director first and point out things you have seen (i.e., not washing hands). You are paying money, and it is your daughter... I would tell the director to have their employees wash their hands. Also, it is their job to sanitize, so ask how they do it and what supplies they are using...ask how often they do it.
Also, kids are a mess... and germs spread easily in daycares... even if they do disinfect well.

You need to find another day care or someone who can watch your daughter. Even if you go in and clean the place the employees will not change their practices.

Legally you cant force them to do anything but you have every right to make comments about the center being unsanitary. Go to a board meeting if your center is non-profit or get on the parent board. You cant accomplish anything if you don't put your thoughts to actions.

omg put her in a different one. No you don't have a legal right to complain. You have the right ( and the DUTY as her mother) to leave her in a cleaner environment.
well I guess there are people to complain to if it is a licensed daycare, but I still would not leave my child there. They have already proven that they don;t take good care of her or the other children.

Every registered pre school has to live up to the set cleanliness requirements set up by the health department. If you feel they are not living up to this , you need to report it ( lay a formal complaint) to them so that they can investigate.
