I agree with the first answerer. Keep the child awake for a few hours.
While the child is awake, it's very important that you watch for these symptoms:
***blurred vision,
***lose balance while walking
or
***nausia.
While you're watching the child for a few hours, any of those symptoms mean get the child to the ER as soon as possible.

When you bump your head, you may get a concussion. It's a rattling of the brain which can cause swelling. If you fall asleep, your body can put you into a coma and you can die.
Never go to sleep after bumping your head hard for several hours to be sure.
This is no different for toddlers. If he/she seriously hit their head, be sure to keep them awake and call a health care provider if necessary.

If there is a serious injury, like swelling of the brain, you will not be able to see a difference in behavior, how the pupils react, if they fall unconscious, etc if they are sleeping. If you keep them awake, you will know immediately when any changes occur. I personally always take my kids in for a check if they hit their head hard, because even as a parent of 5 and having worked with children for years, I still am not trained to notice/recognize the little indicators that a medical professional would. I hope it's not serious! Good luck!

It all depends on how hard you bump your head. Any major bump or fall on the head should be checked out at the ER for little ones..
They tell you not to go to sleep right away beacuse if you have a severe concussion you may not wake up.

so u don't go to sleep and not wake up..this especially goes for toddlers u shouldn't let them go to sleep for at least 2 hours after they hit their head and if they try to don't let them...and if the bump don't go down after a little while u might wanna take it to the doctor to make sure everything is ok

Because if you have a concussion you could slip into a coma.
