What can I do? She wants to nap around 4:00pm and then stay up until 1 or 2 am. Of course I try to get her to Nap at 12:00 but even then she won't go to bed until almost 11:00 and It's a fight. She wants to jump on the bed and run around etc. I have 3 other children and never had this problem...What can I do?

I am very worried about my daughter who is 3 1/2 years old. For the past few months (and it is getting worse) at almost every mealtime, bedtime, or even when she has to go to the bathroom (pee), she cries... a lot. Sometimes it starts with just her seeing something on her plate that she does not want , or just a request to sit on my lap during dinner. Its like she looks for a reason to be upset and then cries, screams, and sometimes to the point of throwing up from coughing and crying. If we see her start to cross her legs like she has to go to the bathroom, we quickly rush her off to pee, and if she resists, we sit her on the toilet to go. All the while she cries saying she does not want to go. Something else she does, either from this or because of this, is ask for something ( a blanket, her doll) and then screams that she does not want it when it is given to her. If we take it away like she says, she cries that she wants it back. These sessions could go on for up to an hour.

My son's favorite phase is "SHUT UP" no matter you say to him this is his reply. I am not a parent that will spank their kids but I am running out of ways to control this. When I tell him No No he just giggles at me. I don't know if knows it's "Wrong" to say.

Any advice.

These gates are usually wood (sometimes plastic) and they look like lattice-work. Where can I buy one online and what are they actually called? Thanks.

Every time we hang out with our friends their 2yr old hits our 3 yr old or scrapes her face for no reason. She'll just walk up and BAM. They are good friends of ours but this has happened way too many times and it's not fair to our daughter, even though she still likes playing with this girl. We told them until it can be gauranteed that our daughter won't be hit anymore they can't play together...which basically means we won't be hanging out very much at all. They got very offended but I don't know what else to do. I understand hitting every now & then, taking toys, pushing etc but not hitting/scratching every time for no reason. They make the excuse that "she doesn't understand" but i don't buy that. I also think they are slightly jealous of our daughter b/c she's very smart & well just good (most of the time, she's not perfect!). So it seems like when our daughter does something wrong they enjoy being like "noo ___ don't do that". DO u agree w/ what we did? What would u do?

Since he was born, he fell asleep every night while I was nursing him, and when I stopped nursing at 10 months, he still wanted to be held till he fell asleep. Now, it's still the same and I cannot stand to hear him scream like he does when I try to put him in his bed to fall asleep. He won't even lay down in his bed, he just stands there and screams and screams, no matter what i do. As soon as I pick him up, he's asleep in two minutes. Will this change once I put him in a toddler bed?

I am planning a party for my son who is turning 4. We're having it at the park. I plan to do the following activities:

Serve lunch
Have cake
Open Presents
Play a game (like red-light green light)
Take kids on rides in his wagon (which I'm gonna decorate like a Choo-choo train).

I'm never good at figuring out how to order things. What order do you think I should do all that in?

My son has absolutely no interest in the potty, I've tried to give him time and wait until he's ready but he's three years old now, and still shows no interest whatsoever. He doesn't mention the potty, he doesn't care about wearing big boy underwear, he doesn't want treats, or stickers, or candy, he is just content using his diapers. Any suggestions for a stubborn three year old? I've tried several things on here, ie. the candy, stickers, charts, treats, nothing has peaked his interest.

i have a 16 month old son, who is very finiky when it comes to food. The only thing that he likes on a consistant basis are Hormel Cups (mac n cheese and chicken noodle rings), cookies ( of course), and crackers - he HATES anything that has tomato sauce (spagettie, ketsup, ect.), he hates eggs, he doesn't like dairy products, and hates milk....well he doesn't like very much of anything........everything else is like "whatever..maybe i'll eat it today, maybe not tomorrow"

what do/did you you feed your kids at this age? I'm a very paranoid parent, who thinks that my kid is going to starve to death if he misses a meal or doesn't eat enough in one day. i know that this wont happen, but i cant help myself. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE HELPFUL!

THANKS SO MUCH!

- i have tried a lot of different things....like granola bars, nutri grain bars, yogurt, jello, pudding, dried fruit, raisins....he hates them all.

My child was a low birth weight, being 2,500gms (5oz11lbs) and has always progressed along the lower 25th percentile. He recently had severe gastrointeritis and lost 300gms. His weight at 17 months was 9.10gms (20.1lbs) and now falls into the lower 5th percentile. He has become a very fussy eater, which has improved remarkably since puttng him on multi-vitamins. I constantly get unwanted remarks from mothers who have amazon children such as "oh he's very small - is there anything wrong with him?", which makes a sensitive situation much worse. I have seen a nutritionist, who wants to monitor him in 4 weeks time. Can anyone suggest what I can cook that will fortify his meals.

SInce moving house my 20 month old has learned that he can actually climb out of his cot so I have changed him to a toddler bed and he will no longer do to bed without a major struggle. Before we moved house he would go to bed without any trouble even if he was wide awake....any advice would be much apreciated.

I babysit my 21 mo old grand daughter daily. They live with us. She is great and we have fun during the day. Once mom gets home my grand daughter gets really ugly. Acts like I shouldn't look at her, walk into the room, etc. I do not interfere with things once mom gets home, but I am getting tired of this behavior. Ignore it or expect mom to address this? It's not about my feelings being hurt, it's about this child possibly becoming a little witch. What do you think?

My son (he is 2 years old) was at the day care and this girl, which is older and bigger than him tried to take the toy he was playing with. They started fighting over it and my son bit her and broke the skin.

I was very upset at my son that he did that because isn't a behaviour we encourage and he was disciplined.

I asked the Day care teacher where were they when this happened but they said they didn't have enough time to separate them.

Now the parents want us to pay for the Dr bills because they took her to the dr. The girl is ok and didn't even need tetanus shot.

Am I by law required to pay this bill?

Why is it when I put my 2 year old son to bed with a fresh diaper, he wakes up EVERY morning soaked and wet? I don't remember haveing this problem with my daughter. No matter what I do he is really wet in the morning. We use pampers diapers. They should hold through the night. You would think. They're expensive enough. Is there anyone out there with this same problem? And if so, is there any advise you can give me to keep my so dry through the night. Possibly without changing him every few hours. Any advise is appreciated. Thank you!

I'm shopping for a new preschool and have several appointments lined up for this week. I just want to make sure I'm prepared. What are some good questions to ask? I've already covered the basics like accredidation, class size, and cost. I'm looking for more specific questions relating to corriculum. Thanks in advance for the help!
