I am planning a party for my son who is turning 4. We're having it at the park. I plan to do the following activities:

Serve lunch
Have cake
Open Presents
Play a game (like red-light green light)
Take kids on rides in his wagon (which I'm gonna decorate like a Choo-choo train).

I'm never good at figuring out how to order things. What order do you think I should do all that in?

A few things I should mention...the party starts at 12:00 (so I don't think I should wait TOO long for lunch).

OK...here's what I'm thinking. Start with an active game, then follow with lunch. Then do the train rides for a while (since that's not very active...since we're having it at the park the other kids can play at the park while between "train ride" turns). Then do cake (which will draw all the playing kids back--cause everyone likes cake--and follow with presents. Do train rides again and let kids play on their own after that while party goers leave. Sound good?

I think you should do the activities first then lunch and cake, b/c if the kids eat first, they will be tired and not want to participate in the activities.

well you should first play a game while the kids wait for lunch, and either way even if the food is done play some games and then eat and then let kids run around for a while, that way it gives everyone time to finish eating, then do the cake and open presentsthen do the rest of the games and rides. i bet he will have fun with what ever you plan anyway.

Play one game, one ride around with the choo choo train, Serve Lunch and cake, open gifts, then play one more game, and another choo choo train ride. Its hard to keep kids in a even keel, you need to break up activities, to try to not let it get boring for them

depending on how many kids come sometimes if you have help you can do two things at once which is great but I would let them play first because if there a little tired they wont be a big mess and then eat lunch and then open presents and then have the cake as the last thing it works.

i woudl say open presents last incase someone needs to leave or the party goes longer then expected, taht way ppl wont miss much if they need to leave early, lunch is normally first in all parties ive been too i would say do cake right before presents, give the kids time to digest there food lol

Keep the children active all Thur the party. Use your imagination, let them use theirs. You remember what it is to be young, so enjoy. Once the food and the cake are gone usually the attentions span is too.
