We just moved home & my daughter just started nursery last week. Shes been sucking her lips for a few weeks & I thought it was just because of the move & after a while she'll stop.
She sees her dad on a saturday night and comes back on a sunday. I go to her dads so they not alone with him as hes useless with nappies and that. We still together. Then come home on sunday night. We have the occassional argument what relationship dont.
Anyway I got tonsilitis so my mum said she would have my daughter for 2 nights so I can get better. Then when I phone to check she is ok. My mum said something is really bothering my daughter cause of the lip sucking & that my daughter said that when her dad goes to work her dad hates her and doesnt want her anymore. The thing is shes daddy girl & he wouldnt dream of saying that to his daughter & Im there & I have never heard that come out of his mouth. Why would she say these things and how do I make things better for her?

My 2 and half year old step-daughter is dry day and night but won't poo on her potty/toilet. It has got to the stage where she is hurting herself by holding back and she ends up having a poo in her sleep when she is relaxed.

Any advice please ??

I am a mom of a two year old and I have her in gymnastics and have tried joining a playgroup so she can be around other kids, but I am finding it hard to make friends with some of the other moms. I feel that at times I am back in high school with the amount of snobs I am running across. I am trying to be a little more out going at the park, library, etc and most of the moms are snobs. How have other moms dealt with the moms who believe they are better than everyone else? Some moms are great I have to admit.

I was wondering what size shoe do most 2 yr olds wear? I took my daughter in for new shoes the other day and the gal told me she wears a 7 1/2. Is that big? Seems to me it is. She is 2'10" and weighs about 28 lbs. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. I wouldn't want her getting teased for having big feet. Anyone?

My doctor told me that my 15m onth old baby should NOT be fed anymore at night and should sleep through the night. Also, I JUST weaned him off nursing (today was his first full day not nursing). Is there anything I should do at night when he wakes up, wanting to eat? He doesn't go back to sleep, just starts crying louder and louder until I feed him. I need some ideas to get through tonight!! Help!

My son is 3 yrs old and he has talked for about 2 yrs. He started very early and with 2 other siblings he learned to talk very well. I am not sure why but within the last 2 - 3 wks he started to stutter. I was wondering if anyone knew if the stutter was perminant or if it was something that he was going through. I have noticed that it was getting worse with time. Is a stutter something that you are born with or is it something that you can get with age. It doesnt really matter to me, but i have noticed that it bothers him and sometimes he gets very mad that he can not say what he wants to.

I am working on putting more limits on my young kids' TV viewing. I'm aiming for under 2 hrs a day. I've tried letting them help me cook, but they either eat the food raw before I can cook it or they beg for a snack. I've also tried putting up a dry-erase board for them to draw on but that only worked one day. Any other options?

I have a 19 month old who has been misbehaving a lot lately. She knows what "no" means but when i tell her no she only stops doing what she is doing momentarily and then goes at it again. I try not to tell her "no" a lot, unless she is doing something that she may get hurt. what ive done lately is pick her up and hold her and tell her she is in time out. i hold her because i have sat her down somewhere and told her that and she smiles and thinks its funny. I only hold her for a minute or less but she absolutely hates it (only when she is in timeout) and it usually is effective. do you think it is too early for time outs? how would you handle a misbehaving toddler?

Late last night a friend of my 4 year old son asked if her child could play today for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours while she and her husband (the daddy) shopped for the childs birthday - which is Thursday. I am moving to a different state this Saturday so she knows I am packing, etc. (with two children of my own).
Instead of two hours, max, she was gone for four. Although apologetic, I am not sure I want either of my children in her care at a birthday party and spending the night. what do guys think. I, obviously, got no packing done - having to watch three children and we are due to move in 4 days -

My daughter's in ballet, and I volunteered to be a supervisor during their big recital. So I'll be backstage with 9 little girls aged 5 - 7 for four hours. I need crafts that will keep them busy, quiet, and won't mess up their costumes. And cheap!

I'm thinking beading would work, and crayons and coloring books for sure. We have a portable DVD player, so I'll bring that and a few movies. Anything else anyone can think of?

i went shopping with my 2year old and 1 year old and the 2 year old was having a tantrum over some pencils, well this big fat man loudly said to his probably gay boyfriend'well if there is an ad for conception there it is"
how rude!!

so i walked over to him and swore at him first then told him his mother must have never loved him, then walked off
what is with people these days??
toddlers are toddlers and they all throw tantrums.

You can't go through their first 3 years of life and take them no where just in case they have a tantrum!!!

My 4.5 year old son will not follow instructions from me. I am constantly discaplining him and he gets used to it that is doesn't phase him too much- I just take things away from him. Here is an example, I tell him it is time to go - he ignores me, keeps on doing what he wants to do- I have to threaten to take something away or do take it away (like diner at his granparents that he loves to go to) I will even walk away. I feel like I am constantly bargaining with him. How do I get him to do what I say when I say it. I am afraid this is can become a safety issue what if we were in a situation where he had to get out of the ocean lets say and did what he wanted to do and drowned - just an example.
