My 2 and half year old step-daughter is dry day and night but won't poo on her potty/toilet. It has got to the stage where she is hurting herself by holding back and she ends up having a poo in her sleep when she is relaxed.

Any advice please ??

well my little one has just cracked it with the pooing stage.. what i did was put the poo that she had done in her knickers in the potty, and got her to sit on the pooty while i was getting everything ready to clean her up. then she throught she had done it herself. then then onwards she started going to the loo!

Hi i did work i a nursery b 4 i got ill with my pregnancy and i have met manyy children who refuse to poo in potties or toilets. i think there are many reasons eg they dont like to sound, water has splashed up at them once and they got scared or there could be many reasons. try tslkin to her or getting her to sit on the potty or toilet and turning away or pulling the door to or using trats/ stickers there are many different ways of getting her to do it but she may jst grow out of it and get over her fear herself. but dont worry about it it will always come out in the end try asking her doc about different remidies or laxitives tht may stop her from holdin it in and if she was to be kept on a toilet potty when she was doing a poo she may realise its not as bad as she tought! hope this heped gud luk :)

I bought my son a plain boring potty. He would sit and sit and sit then get up and pee on the floor or poop on the floor. I didn't understand. I bought a different potty that plays music when they pee or poop and it makes flushing noises. It also came with a sticker board so evertime he used it i put a sticker on the board and gave him a treat. You have to make it fun for the child. give them a reason to want to use the potty.
