my daughter is two and she never sits in our lap for ANYTHING! your lucky yours sits in your lap when she is tired....get some play dough and have her on your lap and show her how to make different things with the play dough or color in a coloring book together or read her a book that pops out or one that has the hidden flaps that you can pull open and say "look what is that?"

Read to her it doesn't matter if she's not on your lap. Read anything text books, stereo instructions, she won't care as long as you do it with feeling.

Cook with her---she can help measure and pour and stir. This is a great time for taste and texture play. It also teaches weights and measures.

Go to a museum---park it really doesn't matter---little kids can do almost anything older kids can only in smaller doses.

Pop her into a life preserver and go to a lake---feed the ducks----visit a living museum---garden---give her her own plot to dig and plant in---play with worms

whatever---mostly don't forget to make it fun, educational, and full of love

In the sandbox when it's warm outside, with toys.

Let her play with a push toy on wheels.

Rolling and tossing a light colorful beach ball.

Dancing to kids music.

Reading to her when she's tired.

Playing in the bathtub with toys or in a splash pool outside in warm weather.

Of course being that age she has to be supervised 100% of the time doing anything.

Get her a little play-matte. ei.neighbor. And if you want her to sit in your lap tell her that you are playing a game with her the do trot-trot- to boston trot-trot- to lynn you better watch out before you fall.......IN! She will like that.. Also try to sign her up for baby-swimming lessons she will like that too. You can do it with her. Maybe once a week of if you like down south you probabley have a pool. If not take her to a close helth club they do classes like that all the time. It is god to start them young. HTH!!!
