thanks

My son is almost 3 and loves playing with other kids! He loves kicking the soccer ball around and playing catch, so we want to try to get him in sports...but it seems like he is too young for any sport. Any suggestions?

Hi! My 3yr old son about once a month throws up like he has the flu. However, seeing as he throws up so often, I don't believe this is the flu. I was wondering if anyone elses' kids have done this or whether you know why this keeps happening? Thanx

Apparently there is a girl in my daughter's class (4,5&6) who tells the other children not to play with my daughter and the other kids listen to the little girl. Once the girls leaves for the day, they play with my daughter.

My daughter never really complained, but it was another parent who brought it to our attention. I really don't care if the little girl doesn't want to play with my daughter, but I am concerned about the other kids isolating my daughter b/c someone else tells them to.

I don't want to make a big deal out of it, but I do want to talk to her teacher or the parent about it. Should I just leave it alone? This is a montessori school, so these kids are together until they turn 6 unless they leave the school.

BTW - My daughter is not shy and does not trouble making friends otherwise. In fact, I think this situation bothers me more than it does her.

After pre-school, some of the moms let our kids run around in the gym. There are kids of all ages 5 and under (t-class down to infant siblings).

For some reason, my 3 year old son likes to play with the 5 year-olds. (he has a big sis who is 5, but not there in the gym). They like to play super-heroes. Unfortunately, my son is rough with the older boys. He doesn't understand that the older boys grab less hard (stage-"fight") and he has really hurt them.

The older boys understand that "he's little" (it's what their mom's say), but how do I teach my son to play more gently with the older boys.

I'm upset because I overheard one of the older boys say, "Uh-oh...that little guy is here again", but then they invited him to play!?!?!?

Any suggestions as to help teach my son to be more gentle with the older kids?

His teacher says that he's very well-adjusted with kids his own age and he and his siter are great when playing together.

I am looking for a baby gate that will go at the top of stairs but I have railing posts on each side so a gate that pushes against the sides will weaken my railings. I'd also like to avoid drilling into them if possible. Any ideas? These are standard railings that builders put in most homes going up stairs, etc.

Hi, I just started a babysitting job. I bring my 18month old boy with me when I watch the 2 year old boy and 9year old girl. The girl is no prob., but when my son has one of the boy's toys he screams, MINE! and takes it, then they start fighting over it. I took the toy away, but it happens OVER and OVER. When the other little boy gets reprimanded for taking the toy, he lets out a SHRIEK! I don't know what to do. The little girl started crying the other night, saying she couldn't handle all the screaming. How can I get these two to get along and share?

I have a son who will be 4 in March 2007. He throws tantrums like no other child I've ever seen. I've tried time outs, threatening to take away his privileges, even smacking him. His arguing back gets to me the most. Somedays, he makes me that mad that I'm afraid I'll hurt him. Someone help me please!!!

Just wanted some advice.
I will always remember today as i was about to choke on a large piece of sliced fruit. There was no one around in the house at the time and my room door was locked at the time so no one could come to help. I fell instantly to the floor and everything started to go dark. My life flashed before my eyes as i was choking and fell to the floor. I managed to get enough strength together and ran at full speed towards the wall and bumped it hard, the sliced fruit (wasnt soft) then fell down. I was seconds away from death.
What can an individual do if he is on his own like that and starts choking? I now want to learn first aid - how much would it cost - i know its a 3 day course but not sure on price?

My 19 month old just took a fall from the kitchen counter after climbing up a stepstool to get a snack. She fell off, mostly hit her right side of the face and head, no bump, no bruise just red. Already called the ped's office, already knew what to look for but forgot to ask whether or not it's alright to give her some baby motrin to help.
Doctors office is closed and getting anyone along the lines of a nurse at the hospital seems to be impossible. She stopped screaming, has her balance, responds and seems alright other than being quiet and rubbing where it's red.
Think it's alright to give motrin?
