My 19 month old just took a fall from the kitchen counter after climbing up a stepstool to get a snack. She fell off, mostly hit her right side of the face and head, no bump, no bruise just red. Already called the ped's office, already knew what to look for but forgot to ask whether or not it's alright to give her some baby motrin to help.
Doctors office is closed and getting anyone along the lines of a nurse at the hospital seems to be impossible. She stopped screaming, has her balance, responds and seems alright other than being quiet and rubbing where it's red.
Think it's alright to give motrin?

not that I need to explain, but I was helping my 4 year old son get his shirt off. That was for Lisa C. Kids will do what they want whether your watching them or not, 5 seconds is all it takes for another mess, problem, and or troubled situation to happen. I dare anyone to raise their hand and tlel me nothing bad has ever happened to their kids before. Heck I fell off a bed, stairs, the couch, a dresser. And that was before I was 4! Not that I needed to say that, But I won't be called a bad mother. And neither should anyone else here who is simple asking for help for those who actaully are polite enough to lend their advice in sticky situations.

I think that you should go ahead and give motrin. Motrin is designed to help with pain associated with inflamation. It will not hurt the child as long as it is given in correct dosage. You can also give tylenol and motrin at the same time for a quicker pain releiver. Giving tylenol every 4 hours and motrin every 8 hours.

I would think that if she's not showing any signs of concussion, baby Motrin should be okay. I'd wake her every 2-3 hours tonight and check to make sure she's still responding normally just to be sure.
Kids are pretty sturdy. If she's not acting "off", she'll probably be okay.

like the medical expert stated, seek for signs and indications of head trauma--eyes that don't dilate wisely is likely considered one of the main important signs and indications, as is nausea and vomiting. many of the time, childrens can crumple the stairs and be only superb different than some bumps and bruises. To reassure you, we've stairs and my 22-month-previous has fallen down them, the two from all the way up precise and halfway up precise, better than as quickly as and he's often been superb, only shaken over falling. She is probable ok. only save an eye fixed on her for the subsequent 24 hours.

I agree with everyone else! Give her some motrin, it will give you a peace of mind! She could be in a little pain, make her feel better mommy! I feel for ya! My kids have never had a bad fall, but if they ever would, I would be FREAKING out!

I guess this is similar to Calpol, which we give to our daughter after a tumble if she looks like she needs it.
You are going to be more relaxed if you give it to her, and less stressed, which will help your little one to relax as well.
Give her a dose, it's not going to hurt :)

She is probably ok, especially if she was crying and is now calm. Just keep a close eye for any disorientation and such.
Lisa C.: CLEARLY you do not have children. You're a condescending idiot.

If she's not fussy or crying or, from what you said, seem to be in constant pain, then I'd hold off on the meds. Why give her if she doesn't need it?
