Hi! My 3yr old son about once a month throws up like he has the flu. However, seeing as he throws up so often, I don't believe this is the flu. I was wondering if anyone elses' kids have done this or whether you know why this keeps happening? Thanx

My 2 y/o son was throwing up every now and then for months, and eventually I realised he was chewing/eating things he shouldn't be!Like the fluff off tennis balls, corners of blankets/sheets, fluffy toys. Once i realised and kept a strict eye on him, the throwing up stopped. This may not be your problem, but keep an eye anyway. He may also have an intolerance to some foods.

My oldest daughter throws up almost on cue! She can just smell something stinky and up it comes. And she is 6! She has a really weak gag reflex, we've had her checked out and the dr. said it is ok and that she will probably learn to control it, eventually. In the meantime she has thrown up everywhere, from school and in the car to restaurants and in the mall. And we usually do not have a whole lot of warning, although we have kinda learned how to avoid it most of the time. Also, if she eats too much of any one thing, she will throw up, so if she wants a snack I make sure she has two different things to munch on. No one believes me on that one, but it is the pattern I have noticed. Just try to notice a pattern or something. Oh, and giving her medicine is impossible, so we had to go with Fever All suppositories and shots at the dr's office. Now that she is old enough, she can swallow small pills thank goodness! (My youngest daughter also has a weak gag reflex but she just gags, she never actually throws up. They are 14 months apart)

maybe he has an allergy to something he's eating. my son kept having very runny bowel movements, come to find out after a whole bunch of tests, he was just lactose intolerant and i figured that out myself. so try and change his diet and see what happens, if it continues seek help through his pediatrician. Good Luck!!

I agree with a few of the answers it may be an allergy that is not bad enough to cause a severe reaction but cause him to puke. Keep a food diary.

Ugh! I am so glad that my kid doesn't do that. I have a really hard time dealing with the puke thing. If I were you I would start making a note of what you are feeding him and see if it happens when he eats a certain thing. It could be an allergic reaction. Good luck!

yes my son does that he is 10 now, but he started when he was 3.
it was because of caffeine. if he drank a coke or ate chocolate, he would throw up.
