She's not a massive eater but she has a healthy, varied diet and she's having about 3 oz of cow's milk in the morning, about 6oz in the afternoon and 8oz at bedtime. She's started not really wanting her afternoon milk and as she has yoghurt, cheese etc, I was wondering if she needed it.

My daughter usually goes to sleep around 10:00 at night and has a glass of milk as she is laying down. That is another thing, how do i get her to not drink right before she goes to bed so i can start potty training her? She will then wake up at 4:00 in the morning and want juice. She will cry for a long time and really loud if i don't get her something to drink.. What do I do?? I am afraid that if i don't give her milk right before she goes to bed, she won't go to sleep and then at 4:00a.m. she will stay awake if i don't get her some juice. I think I remember hearing some where that if I gradually decrease the amount fluids I give her before she goes to bed then she will eventually get down to nothing to drink...Is this right?? Please help me.. I am so anctious to get her potty trained too..

I know I have asked this before, but my dd is still not trying any new foods. My pedi. said to just keep giving her new things and she is the type of baby that may take 20 times before she will eat it. Here is her schedule. She is 14 months old:
7:00 - 6 oz. milk(still in a bottle...working on that)
8:00- 8:30- breakfast - she does ok with this- pancakes, oatmeal, waffles an occasional egg and fruit(still baby food)
12:00 or so - lunch- all she will eat is mac and cheese, toast, any baby food fruit and veggies or pizza. She will eat crackers of any kind and cookies of course.

1:00 - nap - 4 oz. milk before nap
3:00 - snack
5:30-6:00 dinner same foods as listed above. I just give her whatever she didn't eat for lunch
7:00-7:30 bed and 7 oz. milk

my pedi. said not to worry about what she is eating that eventually she will eat other things, but I feel like she is not getting proper nutrition if these are the only foods she will eat. i will keep trying and hopefully she will not spit something new out.
thanks
Debbie

Drinks about 5-7 cups of water a day. These cups hold 3/4 of a pint. Should I be worried about him? He is starting to drink through the night like he has never had a drink.

Hello. My daughter has been sic since yesturday. I took her to the ER but the doctor said that if she was coming down with something that it was too soon to tell. Anyway I've heard that I can alternate Tylenol and Motrin sooner than waiting the 5 hours after giving Tylenol. Does anyone know exactly how many hours in between the alternating? Serious answers only and only if you know for sure please. Oh and by the way my daughter is 22 months and is 25 pounds.

A cousin we have on my husbands side likes to hit and shove our 3 year old son and tell him things like "shut up", "your stupid". We totally disagree with the behavior. His mother sat right by him when he did this to my son and she said nothing - he was not punished. He's 6. I was so shocked I left. She is very irresponsible - I don't want my son to think this behavior is acceptable. Any advice??????

We are thinking of putting our daughter into pre-school, but I still feel that she is too young. Once school starts it doesnt end for 12-13 years not including college!! Why not give them as many years at home as possible? She will be 4 years old in April. Just want to know what you all think. Thanks!

What time does your toddler go to bed? What time does he/she get up? How is is he/she? My daughter is 21 mos and sleeps 8pm- 5:30 pm, but my daycare seems to think she is still tired in the am. Just trying to see what the "norm" is

I'm not looking for what the books say, I'm looking for lots of answers from people so that I can get an idea of what other people have experienced. My daughter is 2 1/2 and sometimes won't take a nap. Other times, she naps for three hours! I know some kids stop before two and others nap well into 5 or 6 years old. How about yours? How old were they? Was it a sudden change (like one day just stopped napping)? Or was it more gradual? Did they switch to a quiet time? Start throwing fits or just stop sleeping? Thanks!

I just started taking a full load of classes at school so that I can graduate sooner. This means I am taking day and night classes.
Anyway, one of my best friends has been watching my daughter(2.5 years old) two days a week in the morning. We've only been doing this since about the last week of jan.(not long I know). Today my friend tells me that she might be moving soon(way out of town). I'm just curious at how easy is it to get a child who isn't potty trained quite yet to get into daycare/preschool fast?
I need to scramble to do this, I need help!
I'm in the east bay area, CA... if anyone knows a good place to put her I'd love to know!

She's interested in the toilet, but not interested in potty chair. She's 22 months so I haven't pushed the issue. Plus, I'm a little nervous about putting her in a toddler bed cause that will give her the freedom to move around at night. Help please.

My two year old has began stuttering and it is getting worse and more noticable. An example he will try to say mommy and he hums Mmmmmmmh for a long time before saying it. My son is not in daycare at all so I don't know where else to find some kind of intervention other than his doctor. I want some help now b/c I have a cousin in this same situation and he is now 24 years old with a stuttering and speech problem and it effects him negatively to this day. What can I do?

My daughter is 4. I let her pick her own outfits at the stores we shop at and she picks out all boring brown and black clothes. At her preschool all the kids are wearing red, purple, and pink sparkley dresses when she comes with a ripped up jean skirt with black leggings and a tight black tank top. We live by a kids jewlery store called Claires and we recintly got her ear peirced. She picked plain black balls for her earing. I told her after we got her ears peirced she could get 10 things from the 99 cent rack and she picked a pair of black gloves, dark dark purple nail polish, a hair clip with green hair, silver belt [that she wears by her waist whithout putting it in belt hoops, and 6 silver bangles. She then said at the cash register "Here I'll cover it" She took out 10 dollers out of her lether wallet. She gave it to he women and said "Here ya go have a nice day" Oh my god what should I do she is turning into a goth child.

My girlfriend's 4 year old daughter is a handful to say the least! She doesn't listen to what she is told to do, regardless if myself or her mother tells her. We try sending her to the "corner" for a timeout, but it seems like she is used to it and will continue to be mischievious after her timeout. Mom doesn't believe in spanking the 4year old; I used to feel the same until now. I don't have any children, so I had a crash course on being a father figure in this little girls life. In my opinion, I feel she has been spoiled (she gets nearly anything she wants ex. candy, food, whenever and whatever she wants).
In addition, she does not like to sleep on her own; we put her to bed in a little chaise chair beside our bed, then in the middle of the night she wakes up crying and jumps into bed with us! the whole situation is very frustrating; especially when I can't get any "private" time with my girlfriend because her daughter is always in our room. HELP!!!

I've tried rewards, punishment everything!! She gets so busy playing or doesn't want to get up to go pee while sleeping. She holds it as long as she can then she pees a little in her pants. If she can't make it, she'll sit on the floor and wiggle and cry, sometimes in front of the toilet. So frustrating!! She has no medical problems. She holds poop too and if she has diarrea, same thing. So tired of cleaning sheets and underwear!! This happens several times a day more so than not. I think its a control issue and I don't know what to do anymore. Please help, out of ideas...thanks so much.
