I have a 7 week old daughter and she is coughing and got a stuffy nose. I went to the doctor today and they said she is fine (Military Docs ..... ) but I am not happy with it so now I like to know what I can give her and how much. It has been a while since I had little ones.

When my son starts coloring, he makes great, colorful loops and scribbles on his own. But about halfway through his first drawing of a session, he'll suddenly look at me, say "boo," hand me a crayon, and point to a spot. He wants me to draw a ghost where he points. Then he'll color over the ghosts. If I try to draw a picture of something else on my own, he comes over and does whatever it takes to stop me (tells me no, draws on top of it, takes the paper, takes the crayon). The only reason I can think of that he would want me to draw ghosts is that I drew ONE ghost picture around Halloween, but I think he was sleepy then and wouldn't have remembered that.
Should I do what he says? Is putting a ghost where he wants it in the color he chooses encouraging his creativity or stifling it by not letting him draw on his own? I love participating in his activities, but I'm a little tired of drawing ghosts (and having only pictures with my ghosts on them!).

Right now my husband and I are in a small, 2-bedroom apartment with our 16 month old son. We're looking to move to a larger house, and we are at a point where we need some advice.

In August, when our son is 23 months old, we are expecting Baby #2. We know that for the first 3-5 months, the baby will sleep in our room. After that we would move the baby into a shared room with his brother.

How will that work? Babies wake up and cry themselves to sleep sometimes, and with an older brother sharing the room, wouldn't he wake up as well?

We're looking at two homes and weighing our options.

Option 1: 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, basement, kitchen, fenced yard, 1 car garage

Option 2: $200 more/month, but 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage, etc.

We're trying to figure out how a 2 year old would do in a shared room with a 5-6 month old!

ANY advice would be greatly appreciated!

I just got hired at a local sitters agency and I have my first interview tonight. We're having dinner at the parent's house.

I was an assistant teacher at my high school in our daycare program but there were also about 15 minutes in that class.

I've never been to a "dinner interview" Does anybody have any ideas on how to present yourself during this kind of interview? Also something that may impress the parents? What kind of skills should I mention?

Also, they have 2 kids, 3 year old twins.. any ideas on motivation and fun things to do with 2 three year olds?

Thank you in advance :)

My son is 15 months and LOVES his bottle. Is he too old, what is the rush to get him off of it? He will drink from a cup occasionally durring the day, and seems to really like the cup when his cousin (same age and only drinking from cup) is around.

Her daughter weighs 95lbs.... She has broken 2 of my daghters chairs that were like brandnew. They had metal frames. How do I get her to sit on the couch, rather then the childrens stuff where she is just way to big for it? I don't want to have to replace anymore chairs and I don't want to have to be mean either. I tried folding the chairs up and putting them away but then there are not enough chairs for everyone to sit in. Help please???

Or I guess any other holiday for that matter? I have an 18 month old and a 2 year old and I don't really know how to go about explaining these things to them. For Valentines Day we have made cookies and watched Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown. I don't really know how/what to say to them to get them to somewhat start understanding the concepts of holidays. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks guys!

How much TV should a almost 3 year old boy watch? What is healthy? We just moved to a new area where my boyfriends ex has lived. my boyfriends son has been going to a daycare part time for almost a year and now full time that we live here. everytime that i have picked him up (should be naptime) all the kids are watching a movie (noneducational, just cartoon) and playing quietly with the teacher and eachother. I was told at those times were nap times. I could pay a babysitter to watch movies with him. shouldnt they be put to sleep with quiet music or something like that? is that normal? our old daycare would only watch movies as a last resort if it was raining and they didnt have crafts or something like that to do. My boyfriends ex doesnt want to change daycares because he is "established" there and she said she doesnt think it is that big of a deal. Is it????

I am a single mom of two. When I got divorced last year, I started a bad habit with my oldest son. I started to let him sleep in the bed with me. And after I had the baby, the baby took over the crib. And now that I am dating, it has become a real problem. I now have to lay with him to get him to go to sleep. Last night I layed with him for 2 hours and he still didn't fall asleep. And then if he gets to worked up, he throws up. I have to be home at bedtime cuz he won't go down for the sitter. How do I break this habbit! I need all the help I can get. He also has been screamin and throwin himself down on the ground. Any help?

My son is 20 months old and a few weeks ago he learned that he could take the cushions off the couch and jump onto them. However he missed a few times, no big deal, never even cried.....now in the past week he has been grabbing around his tailbone area and saying "owie" as if something hurts, but he still does everything else fine, walks, jumps runs, sleeps eats and I cant find a bruise or bump or anything, its just a few times a day he will grab and say "owie", This is my 1st child so I dont know if thats common for them to voice these things and then go on about their business, and do I make a DR appt? I mean really what are they going to do about it?

I'm flying from seattle to omaha, ne. we only have one connection in salt lake city, and the layover is only 35 minutes so we got lucky there! But both planes are about a 2 hr trip. I know it probably won't be all that bad since it's not a super long trip, but do you have any advice or suggestions on foods or toys or anything to bring for her to keep her entertained? My mother will be with us, so I'm sure having her there will help a lot. Also, should I even bother with the umbrella stroller? Or should I just take my soft carrier and put her in there when we are in the airport? It would make it a lot easier to carry my bags, also! Thanks for any advice! :)
