its different from child to child but both of my children stopped taking naps around 1 and a half years old. I don't really think it matters that much as a child will sleep when they need to

Well I have a 3 year old and sometimes he takes naps and other times he doesn't. How ever when he does I dont let him sleep more than an hour, if I do then he's up for all hours of the night, and when he doesn't nap he usually goes to bed early. But it really depends on how he's feeling during the day. If I can tell he's being grumpy cause he's tired I'll usually lay him down for a nap. So To Answer your question I think it really depends on the child and the parent!

Each child is different. I have 3 girls and my oldest stopped taking daily naps when she was 3(on occasion even at 6 1/2 she will take a nap) My 4 1/2 year old still takes a daily nap because she needs it and wants it. She will curl up by herself and go to sleep. My 2 1/2 year old will take a nap only if she is made to but does not need that daily nap and refuses to nap anywhere but in her bed so that of course makes it a little more difficult.

Every child is different. I nannied for a child who stopped napping at three, and I have a number of kindergarteners who still nap during "turtle time" after lunch. It varies widely and depends on the individual.

from experience I can tell they don't have a certain period...usually around an year old they can say "no"...but it really depends from kid to kid...and also the same kid has diffrent periods. the most important thing is to get good night sleep. usually kids have to go to bed between 7pm and 10 pm(if they took a nap)
good luck
ps:sometimes we need their naps more then they do :)

When it interferes with your "me" time, like when you're doin' body shots of Cuervo off of Lindsay Lohan.
Usually I find when they hit the floor after they fall out of the high chair, they want to take a lot of naps for some reason.
