DO NOT GIVE HER ANYTHING!!!!!!
Children this age do NOT need to be given ANY kind of over-the-counter medicine, especially cold medicines!!!
I feel your pain on the whole military doctor thing, if your husband is active duty, then Tricare Prime covers civilian doctors for dependents. I made sure my daughter was seen by a civilian pediatrician and not military doctors. Please, don't risk your child's life, go to your local Tricare rep and ask for the form to switch your daughter's doctor to a civilian.
You will the need the following information: the civi doc's name and phone number at minimum. If you can provide an address that will be helpful but is not mandatory unless the forms have changed.
I cannot stress it enough, do not give your daughter ANY kind of medicine!
In the mean time, try using a vaporizer that uses straight water. Stay away from menthol as it can be too harsh on an infant's lungs and sinuses.
Avoid vapor rub! Even the infants vapor rub is for infants 3 months and older.

Its so hard for a mom to have a little one and have the Doctor tell you the mom she is fine, you know she isn't yet you really can not give her anything for that congestion yet, she is too small yet. I know that I have read that these meds can cause serious damage to there heart and brain it could even result in death. I would do the humidifier and saline drops if it seems to get worse bring them into the Doctor again that's what they are paid to do follow up with them!

Seven weeks is a little young. Sounds like she has a cold. Please give her lots of fluids-like Pedialite, juices, etc. As well as her formula. If it's really really bad coughing, etc., then please take her back to the dr.'s office. Did they say you could give her medicine? If so, how much? If they said no, then please don't. How long has she not been feeling well? If it's only been a few days, just keep loving on her, keep her well hydrated, and possibly even a humidifier in her room, and in the livingroom would help. She will get better. Take care.

it's not recommended that you give medicine to a child under the age of 1 year old, however you could use a vaporizer to relieve the stuffy nose and chest congestion.

She can only have saline drops
Try a cool water humidifier also
No doctor will give a child medicine that age unless it is something very very serious

if she is wheezy make sure you do not give her anything to dry up her stuffy nose, it will cause a nasal block and she will quit breathing, as a mom to 5 i suggest letting it run its course, if she gets a fever maybe a little infants Tylenol but nothing else

Kj is right saline drops are basically the only thing you can do, along with sucking out the snot, also run a vaporizor in her room, and give her lots of fluids.

Baby Tylenol or other infant cold meds. 8cc is what my doc told me when my little ones were that young. they are two and three now and have no side affects from this amount. Don't forget a vaporizer with a 1/2 teaspoon or Vick's liquid in it to help break up her congestion.
