3 years old is for preschool. Most schools will not let children start kindergarten until they are 5 or 4 but turning 5 before a cut off date like Oct 1st or something close to that.

I teach at a preschool...half days...we take 3 and 4 year old kids. They have to be potty trained and they have to be 3 by September 30th to attend our school . All schools are different, I am sure that you will be able to find plenty in your area. They do charge tuition in most cases, but some do offer scholarships. The school should be more than happy to show you around and let you watch some of the classes in progress.
Good luck!

Child can start going to school at the age of 3, but by law, children who are 4 years ago needed to attend school.

It partially depends on where you live. In Hawaii, kids can start kindergarten at age 4 (or they could when my brother started school there over 25 years ago), but I think most kids won't let a kid start until age 5. Preschool/Head Start is a whole different ballgame, so it also depends on what you call "school."

They can start from three years old, especially if they are ahead in development (of their bodies and mind). I had a friend who nutured and educated her child so well that at three years old, there was talk of the child starting kindergarten the very next year.
Just be sure that the child is ready to handle it, and that you know if they have any learning disabilities. Knowing makes education easier.

My daughter started Head Start at age 3. It really helped her with her socialization skills.
