I have two kids 3 years old and 1 year old. But i'm running out of ideas to do with them. I live in Canada so there's aloto f snow out side and it's really cold. We go out and make snow anges but we can only stay out for short periods at a time.
We play with playdo and dinosaurs and I try to play with his blocks but he really like it better when his father plays block with him. (He makes better cassel's).
What else can we do?

My 2 1/2 year old began spitting about a month ago. He spits when he's angry, when he's in time out and sometimes for no apparent reason. He spits on himself, furniture, people, in peoples' food and drinks and so on. When I put him in time-out for spitting, he just does it more. I tried ignoring it at first, I didn't want to feed into any negative attention, but it only got worse. I'm at a total loss as to what to do. I'm totally humiliated and frustrated by this. I don't want this behavior to affect relationships with playmates and visitors ( it has started to, people don't take kindly to children spitting on their kids) Can anyone help?

My son colors on anything he comes in contact with. I try to keep crayons and pens and such out of his reach but, he always seems to find something. My whole house is an art canvas.I let him color as much as he wants at the table but it dosent seem to be enough. Please, any suggestions will help. Thanks

Before she goes to bed, we have her go to the bathroom, when My husband and I go to bed, we wake her up and have her go again, then if either of us get up at night, we again wake her up and have her go then too. With all of that she is still peeing in her bed. Is there anything else that we can do that would help her stay dry throughout the night?

I am a single mom, so far Santa has only brought presents for my daughter on Christmas, as he has continued to drop mine off at my parent's house thus far. When should I tell Santa to start bringing them to my own house, so my daughter doesn't think it's weird that she's the only one getting presents at our house on Christmas? She's 2 1/2 now, will be 3 by next Christmas. Would next Christmas be a good time to start, or not necessary yet?

PS - I know kids come on here, that's why I phrased my question the way I did!

Just another fun question. My son started drawing faces just after Christmas at 2 years 7 months old. I was just curious when other children began to draw and what were their first masterpieces. Sadly, my son will only draw these faces (which have now sprouted a set of legs) on his Doodlepro and we have not been able to save them (I love digital cameras!)

Girl in office keeps giving blow by blow account of her boyfriends dads illness. I wouldn't but she only met the dad a couple of weeks ago. She's doing my head in. The plugs are for my ears or the rope is for My neck. Maybe I need both.

My son has been crying a lot lately off of any little thing. And he has not been listening the same, he keeps doing something that I tell him not to do. (this is not how he usually acts)

I think that he wants attention and is going through his independent stage (2 years old). Any suggestions of how I should handle this situation?

My 17 month old daughter, we found out today has an ear infection in one of her ears. The doctor however refused to prescribe her an antibiotic because she said that it will go away on its own. According to her my daughter was not sick enough!
I was under the impression that ear infection should be treated immediately. Has anyone been through something like this? Should I try treat her with homeopathy.

My 18mth old has recently migrated to his own bed. The first week was fairly good only sometimes getting out, but in this second week he has now made a game out of it by constantly getting out.

I have kind of worked out a way around this. I just hope I am doing the 'right' thing.

I let him have his bottle (which he doesn't fall asleep on, so I can't see what the problem is by letting him have it in bed). Then this is when the problem starts, he will then either stand at the door and try to get our attention or just run into the lounge room.

I then put him to bed several times b4 I shut the door (for 2 minutes only), which in this time he cries and then I can put him back in bed and sit with him (without eye contact) until he is too tired to worry about leaving the bed.

Is this too harsh or am I doing the right thing?

I am pregnant w/my first child, and I am wondering if there is anyone out there who receives a discount for child care at the preschool they work for. I would like to work at a preschool (I have my required units and experience) and remember from working at a preschool a few years ago that employees with kids got discounted child care. I would like to work just part time, are discounts usually offered if you work part-time, or only if you work full-time? How much is the discount, and is it more the longer you work at the particular preschool? Does the discount apply for infants, or just preschool age children?

My son is about to turn three in April. He will begin a state funded preschool at that time. He will be going to a public Elemantary school for 5 days a week for 6 hours a day. I am apprehensive about this because he is uncomfortable around people he doesn't know and has never been away from me and his dad. I worry about the teacher he will get and whether she will understand his needs. My son has feeding issues and still relies on milk as his primary source of nutrition and I worry that she will take his bottle away. The tough love approach is ineffective on him. I worry that he will have contact with the regular students who are not in the program. He cannot communicate with me to tell me if someone is mistreating him. Does anyone have any experience with this type of program? How did your kids do? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We know our sons daycare provider personally. We are starting to question whether or not we want to keep bringing him there. How do you "nicely" tell them that he won't be coming anymore. At this point I don't care what I saw just as long as it sounds nice... (bad I know)

Why is it that every day before bed time and nap time my 3 year old pulls a fit. I don't understand. It doesn't get her to stay up longer, it doesn't get her anything extra before bed, no extra attention. When she throughs a fit, I just close her door and let her cry. It only lasts about 5 minutes, but why does she bother, all it does is get me frustrated, and she is in her room so she isn't even getting satisfaction in knowing that it bothers me. Is this just some crazy 3 year old phase and is it going to end soon? Its been going on for a couple of months now.
