He has a rotten cold but also a low grade fever. I want to give him both, but can i give him them at the same time? I want him to get the motrin first, so should i wait for the sudafed (prescribed by the dr) This is the first time he has had a cold and fever together. thanks.

the sudafed was prescribed for a cold a few months ago, its extra from that. -as we all know that sudafed you can't buy just off the shelf any more. plus , i just can't call his dr, we live on a military base and the dr takes 48hrs to get back to you. thats why i am on here.

sudafed is too strong for a four-year-old so give him some liquid cold medicine. Childrens motrin is fine to give. Hope your boy feels better

Sudafed For Children

Plain motrin and plain sudafed are fine together - one has nothing to do with what the other does. If there's anything else in either one (like Motrin cold) don't give them together because they can interact.

The other thing is - if he's not in pain or uncomfortable from the fever, there's no need to give the motrin just to supress the fever. Fever is our friend. It's the body's first line of defense against germs.

space them evenly apart so he does not get a double dose of any drug and some sudafed has a fever reducer in it and if the sudafed was a pr then there was directions giving to you on when to give him the pr follow these times. Ask his Dr if giving Motrin to him is ok and when is the best time with or with out the sudafed.

Just so long as you read the active ingredients and can be sure that the sudafed doesn't contain ibuprofen and that the motrin doesn't contain any sudafed. You don't want to double-dose. Lots of cold meds have more than one active ingredient. Check with a pharmacist if you're still concerned.

as long as it's children's sudafed i think it should be okay i've goven both my 8 year old and a 2 year old both at the same time it's gonna make him kinda sleepy that sudafed is tough stuff and it can make an adult male sleepy and woosey so just watch him closley it should be okay

motrion has a cold medicine with a fever reducer in it. It works well but if that is not possible I would give him the fever reducer first than 4 hours later I would do the cold medicine. It makes it easier if the medicine has a fever reducer in it. good luck

Better NOT try to play doctor, as the child's pediatrician first.
