Hi

My daughter is 2, she is a competent talker and has now just started taking off her pants, shoes etc when asked.

However when she has a wee she wont tell me, (she's still in nappies) she say's she has has done a pooh when she has finished doing one, and sometimes lies and says she has poohed etc when she hasent, I feel she isnt ready to start potty training quite yet, however, we have just booked to go away on holiday in July, so I dont want to leave it too late incase I end up having a potty training toddler on a 4hr flight!

and we're going to tunisia where toilet conditions arent great in most areas!

What would you recommend? Try her now? Or wait?

Hello, I have a 4 year old girl. I have recently gone through a divorce. Her dad has every Thursday and every other weekend with her. However, these past few months she has only been going to his home every other weekend. He recently got him a new girlfriend and moved in with her. She has two children of her own. When I left him I started seeing a guy that she has known since she was a baby. His (x) best friend. Her dad tells her horrible things about him and puts things in her head. He does not discipline her and lets her get away with everything. I show her lots of love and attention and so does my boyfriend. She goes on these rampages saying that she is a little adult and sometimes when I tell her to do something she tells me she does not want to or tells me to do it. I usually put her in the corner for 4 minutes and then when the timer goes off I get down to eye level with her and ask her why she was put in the corner. She tells me why she went to the corner and then she apologizes. Sometimes when she is put in the corner she screams at the top of her lungs and says she does not want to be in the corner. I then try to explain to her why she was put in the corner. She will get mad at my boyfriend or me and she will try to scratch us or bite us. She says things like she doesn’t like us or she doesn’t want us. Of course she will get put in the corner for this. If she throws her toys they are taken away. She acts like she is a little boss and I try to explain to her that she is not and that we are. My relationship is straining because she does not want to listen to him or me. I need to know how to deal with this so that my relationship that use to be so loving and caring will go back to being normal.

We're working on potty training our 2 year old and not having much success. We've been using Pull-Ups so far. I've got some cotton underpants that are labeled "training pants" (They're pretty thick- have extra lining in the "important places"). What have you had more success with? My 2 year old calls the Pull Ups "diapers", so I'm beginning to wonder if she thinks that she's supposed to go to the bathroom in the Pull-Ups??? Any other advice is welcome, too. Thanks.

My sixteen month old daughter still takes two naps, for 1&1/2 hours each. I was wondering, when do most toddlers typically switch to one nap, does it happen naturally, or do we try to push her to one? Also, how can you tell when they're ready?

I have a 2 year old who gets into everything. She writes all over everything (I dont know how she gets pens and stuff because I have them all up very high.. lol). She throws fits when she doesn't get her way. And she throws everything everywhere. And it is very hard to get her to go to sleep. She wants to stay up until midnight! And I gave up on potty training because she will poop or pee right next to the potty but not in it. And I got her a really neat potty too.
I dont want to spank her or yell at her but I dont know what else to do.

My best friend's daughter still wakes up 4-5 times a night. My friend essentially sleeps in bed with her daughter every night. Yes, the 17 month old sleeps in a big bed, not a crib. I don't know what kind of advice to give her seeing as how my twins have slept through the night for quite some time now. Any help?? Her husband is about at his wit's end but when he tries to help she flips out. Thanks in advance.

I know it's the age old question. But I'm having huge issues potty training my nephew. He turned 3 in December and I started training him just before his second birthday. We've been working on him for over a year and he has had no progress what so ever. I'm extremely consistant working with him. Here is the problem. He is here with us about 6 day's a week, and his mom has him only for about 2 to 3 nights a week, and I know she doesn't put any effort toward helping. I've tried to get her to work with him, but nothing happens. I dread sending him home with her because I know he's going to come back to me and we have to start all over again. What can I do to get it through my sister's head how important it is to work together with him and get him on the right track. Now, I refuse to put pull ups on him, because I don't believe in them, and he still wets himself at least 4 to 5 times a day. He also goes on the toilet just as much. He's also never done a #2 on the toilet yet. HELP

Meal times become crazy and I end up shouting and threatening. i have tried the reward method either emotionally or buying her something, I have bought charts with gold stars, I have even shown her in ER series people who do n ot eat end up in hospitals but she is so stubborn. Hopw do i get her to eat fast and EAT in the first place. She does favor some few foods adn eats them realtively okay. She is healthy but petite around 92 cm and 28 pounds and she is 3 years 9 months. ANy advice .

My daughter is almost 2 and I think she is having nightmares, is this possible? She came into my room last night and crawled in bed with me about 1 a.m. and about 4 a.m. she woke up screaming at the top of her lungs. She has never done this before and it scared me. I grabbed her and started rocking her and it took a little while to get her to calm down.

In December my 2 year old had an incident where he could not walk, his legs were very stiff and looked funny. He was crying and trying to walk, but could not move his legs, when he did move them, they buckled and he fell. We took him to the ped, but he thought it was an injury or transient synvotis. Eleven days later, he had another incident, same thing-stiff legs, not able to walk, crying in pain....Back to the ped, blood work-everthing looked normal. He did manipulate his legs a lot-we came home still hurting-and he developed a 103 fever-gave him Motrin-and he was GREAT. Woke up the next day wonderful, no problems. 3 weeks later-we had more problems-this time he was telling me his legs hurt-and moving them funny-he was walking like he had casts on-almost moving them in an arc. I noticed this again yesterday-I am wondering if he has been doing this all along-we just did not notice it. Please help-I am very worried-and have no idea what could possibly be wrong!!THANKS!!-

My 2 year old is potty trained at home, always uses the potty, no problems etc..but when i have people over to my house, he just wont use the potty!! I have tried to put it in another room, so he wont be seen by my friends, but he just doesnt go on it!
He doesnt have tantrums or anything, he just goes for a wee-wee wherever he is, and then gets upset with himself.
When my friends have gone home, then he will happily start to use the potty again as usual..Anyone else had the same problem, or any useful tips on why this is happening, and how to overcome it??

Help please tell me is this normal or can you please give me some advice. My three year old just wont listen to anything we say to him. He seems like he just wantst do what he wants, and has no regard for us when we are telling him not to do things. When out he is constantly running off, he knows the word stop but yet still goes off and expects us to chase him. When we do he laughs but whn we get him he starts crying and moanin even thoug he knew full well it would happen. When he is good we do praise him all the time, but for some reason it seems he just wants us to keep telling him off. When we do tell him not to do certain things he gets agressive and chucks toys at us or will vent frustation by kicking his bike. Please help. Is this normal. I am worried he may have ADHD

Im surrounded by people with babies or having them and although i laugh off the suggestion of me having one when asked, deep down i secretly long for the whole experience myself. I have been married for 4 years this year and my husband is wonderful we have a great life and are in a situation now where a baby would be great, the only thing is im so scared of having a baby, the pain the changes in my body! etc i want to experience that, but i dont like the sound of it, if you know what i mean im so confused, i know this is probaly natural to feel apprehensive about chidbirth, all my friends have had there babies quite quickly with not any probs but i know i will be the odd one out! But i know if i carry on like this the years will pass and we will remain childless!! has anyone else felt like this? plus i think if we have a baby my mother in law will probaly take off with it and pass it off as her own (grabber grannie syndrome) but thats another story!!
