I have a 22month old boy and he is so calm most days, but when we visit family that has a 2and a half year old that likes to beat up on my son. He starts to mimic his cousins actions. I don't like spanking and want some new ideas of taking care of these problems without hitting my child.

I am a single mum with limited funds. Any games, craft work or educational information would be great. Also any stratigies on the concept of sharing and toilet training would be useful too.

Thank you to anyone who answers

If the twos were terrible, the threes are mind boggling! My daughter used to be the sweetest little girl god put on this planet. NOT ANY MORE! She talks back, hits, and even tells her 18 month old little sister to do things that she knows are off limits. I am at my wits end. I have no idea what to do. I have put her in time outs, taken away priviledges, and even spanked her once. My husband says that all she needs is a good spanking to settle her down. I gave her the one and I don't think I have the stomach to do it again. She gets along great with other kids but at home with me and her little sister she acts out, constantly pushing the limits. What should I do?

My son has been sleeping with me and my husband since he was 8 months old. I tried to get him to sleep in his own bed for awhile but he would sleep maybe 2 nights a week in his bed and then the rest of the time with us. I finally gave in and he sleeps every night with us. I was going to start making him sleep in his own bed when we found out that my husband is being deployed and will be gone for a year. I decided not to make to many changes at once and I will let him sleep with me for a little while longer. I enjoy waking up next to him and the first thing he says to me is "good morning, mommy" but I am concerned if it is healthy for a two year old to sleep in his parents bed. If so at what age should I make him sleep in his own bed?

I am wondering the best etiquette for a 2 year old's birthday. I'd like to have a party for my son but is it possible to get around the akwardness of opening gifts in front of all of the guests? We had a fun party last year with friends, & the gift opening was just akward. Some people got him $5 gifts & others bought him much more expensive gifts. We certainly don't care how much someone spends - but opening gifts in front of everyone made us feel so "on the spot" - especially since our son is too young to have much of a vocabulary - we did all of the oohing and ahing & thanking for him.
I've heard of parties where the birthday child opens the gifts after the party but that seems a little wierd. Other suggestions have been to politely ask guests in the invitation to limit their gift to $10 or less - but I'm not comfortable mentioning much about gifts at all - I've always heard that is poor etiquette.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Does anyone have a toodler still sleeping in your bed with you? 2 years old? I love it. I love waking up next to my little girl. However I know its healthy for her to move on to her own bed. I was looking for how you all did it with your children. I don't mean to sound picky but I was hoping to hear from families that did the switch with children over 2 years of age. I don't beleive in letting my child cry it out when it comes to bed time routines. So any suggestions in that area no need. Thank you though. But for all those who feel they can relate to me. I would LOVE to hear from you. Thank you so much.

I have looked everywhere for those beds that are shaped like a john deere tractor and all I can find is either a car or fire truck. I have already seen the one at ababy.com that's almost 3000 dollars but I just didn't like that one because it looked cheap, and not even worth 3000

How do you get a three-year-old off a pacifier?

She won't sleep without it and we have tried bribing her but she still won't give in. When we try to put nasty tasting things on it she just washes it off... any idea?

It's already been a month since the baby was born, but my nephew doesn't seem to adapt. He's unbearable at home, pushes his parents to their limits, and has stopped working at school. Any advice, other than what she's been told already (reassure him that you still love him, and involve him with taking care of the baby - she's been doing it but with no results)?

The dr. said she may run a low grade fever in a week but it got to 103. I would have called to see if this is normal for some children but of course it is the weekend. She has no other symptoms. Has anyone else experienced this with their children?

My 22 mo son is so bored with all of his toys, books, puzzles etc. I play with him a lot, but even the games I make up seem to bore him. (Sigh) He is exceptionally bright (I know, of course I say that - I'm his mom) and I wish I knew of some toys, games, books, puzzles, etc. that would hold his interest for more than a day. Any suggestions?

I have a 15 month old baby boy and he still isn't walking. He started crawling between 6 and 7 months. My daughter started walking at 13 months. I know some kids are different. I work with him all the time but it's like he doen't even want to try. He hold on to things and walks along the coffee table or couch and the bed. He can get up on the beds and couch but he won't walk around he's took a couple steps between the table and the couch but thats as far as he goes. do you think he'll do it on his own time or could there be something wrong with? He does have nystagmus but he's been doin really well with that so I don't think it's because of that!!
