The dr. said she may run a low grade fever in a week but it got to 103. I would have called to see if this is normal for some children but of course it is the weekend. She has no other symptoms. Has anyone else experienced this with their children?

The vaccine for chicken pox is a live vaccine so it is not uncommon for children to come down with a very mild case of the disease. Any pox that may appear start out looking like little blisters. Under NO circumstances should you give aspirin, this can lead to Reyes Syndrome which is very serious and even fatal. If you are very concerned call your doctor, even if it is the weekend there will still be someone on call. If not, call your local children's hospital and speak with a nurse. The vaccine for chicken pox is such a blessing. I had the pox at 16 and it was horrible.

If there is a reaction to the shot, the area where she was given the shot usually swells and may even turn black. Give her something for the fever, and if it doesn't go down to below 102 within an hour or so you need to take her to the ER just to make sure everything is OK. There are some serious conditions that can cause a high fever like this. If the fever doesn't respond to medication, or if it keeps returning for more than a few days, you should seek medical attention.

Give your child infant tylenol and infant motrin. Say the first time give her tylenol the next time in 4-6 hours give her the motrin. if her fever still doesnt go down take her to the er. Good luck.
