Ask your pediatrician. Most children at nine months will eat cherrios or dry cereal like that. If they are eating regular table food it should be cut into small pieces and not contain many things, grilled chicken, white rice, fruit, potatoes, bread, all these things he can eat. Try not to give him any greasy food. Monitor what you give him and how much you give him. A toddlers stomach is just as big as his fist, keep that in mind.

I started letting my daughter eat table food at like 8 months and she hasn't had any problem with it since. It all depends on the individual child as to whether or not they are ready to eat table food. My daughter had a pretty easy time eating table food at 8 months because she already had 6 teeth but if your child seems to have a pretty easy time with chewing and swallowing I don't see what is wrong with giving him table food all the time. I'm sure that puree baby food tastes horrible anyways!

I have an 11 month old. The doctor says that as long as they can eat it, they can have it. Stay away from the really bad foods like candy, and anything with peanuts until at least 12 months. Kids can have allergic reactions and it is really harmful under a year of age.

He can eat real food. Real food being things that have come from the earth. Vegetables, fruit, whole grains, yogurt. NEVER greasy food, NEVER fast food, NEVER processed sugar. Your baby is still trying to develop some major parts of his little body, give him real, whole foods. You won't make him fat if you keep him away from junk and keep him active.

Don't fear your child getting fat, he will be crawling? and will be walking soon, and will be so busy he will burn the food before it hits his belly!
Just make sure he gets more fruit & vegies (and meat) that greasy food, and he will be fine!
