my son has a box full of broken crayons is there a way i can melt them in to a big whole crayon i remember doing something like that when i was in 3rd grade but i cant recall

I think you just melt them in a muffin tin lined with paper.

Put them on wax paper in the oven. It doesn't need to be extemely hot, the melting point of crayon wax is fairly low.
