I'm 21 and not like other typical guys. My girlfriend is 18 and going to college. Her mom let us have our own hotel room and bed in Las Vegas, yet, she isn't allowed to sleep over at my house which is about 3/5's of a mile down the road. I really don't get it?

My son has mentioned before that he doesn't want to go to his dads for visitation. He has asked me before how old he has to be for him to decide he doesn't want to go. I have never told him that he doesn't have to go and have in fact encouraged him to talk to his dad about why he doesn't want to go for visitations. He tells me that his dad hardly spends any time with him during visitations, and leaves him with other family members to care for him while his dad goes with friends, girlfriends or whatever. I have actually tried to intervene on my childs behalf and speak to his dad about the lack of time he spends with our son, and to encourage him to start at least calling our son more often and I got yelled at and my son was accused of lying to me about his dad. I have a friend who has told me that she dealt with this with her children and was told by multiple lawyers, the attorney generals office and the court, that at 12, a child can decide not to go on a visitation. Is this true?

We have one healthy 16 month old baby and are struggling with the dilema of whether to have another child. I have terrible post partum depression with the first and struggle with being a 'mommy' every day. However, I don't know if we are being cruel by denying our son a sibling. My husband has to move every three or four years for his job, and wrenching an onIy child away from his friends over and over again, could be traumatics. right? I just don't know if we can handle another baby. I know the first year is the worst, but the first year with another toddler pulling at my apron strings may be too much to bear.
Any advice?

If I ask my momma can I use her car to go to the movie theatre or corner store she says "NO!!! YOU DON'T HAVE A LICENSE!!!"

O.K. but she'll ask me to go to the grocery store (usually Wal-Mart) and gives me a list. I tell her sarcastically "I don't have a license" and she tells me I better do as she says.

Wal-Mart is 4 miles while the movie theatre is only 2 miles.

What's with her.

I have an 12 year old daughter who has always been a pretty good child but lately she has been lying about and stealing food. A month ago she stole money off my dresser to buy food and recently she snuck into the refridge to get pop why? I do not know. She knows that she is welcome to any thing in the fridge but she choose to sneak and steal. I was upset with her and told her that her Christmas was going to be cut short if she didn't get her act together. She went back and told my sister that Shes not worried about her Christmas because she knows I want her happy. On Christmas day she was able to see her presents but I did not allow her to use or wear anything. I also made her stay in the house on Christmas day alone while the rest of the family went to visit other relatives. My mom was pissed and said she want nothing else to do with me because of the way I punished my daughter. Am I wrong? and whats up with the stealing food when its available for her?

My bf has a problem. Maybe not so much my bf.. I have a problem with my bf's mother. He's 26 and still lives at home as he believes its his 'duty' to look after his mother - who is 65, works 2 jobs and is divorced. For cultural reasons, its the thing that they do. However, he has told me he would like to move out, and she will be close by (I've also told him and made it clear that I couldnt live with his mother and if that was in the cards to tell me now cuz I'm not interested in that life). He told me he would be moving out, just a matter of when $ wise. My concern is how I'm going to get mommy to understand and let him leave so that he can have the real life that he wants.

She has family, but her other son has no contact with her

Should I cut my losses now and move on or stick it out and see where this goes?

I'm serious, I'm not being judgemental. What goes through someone's mind while they're belting a child with a strap or something?
I'm all for strict and consistant discipline, and I've no objection whatsoever to a smack on the bottom or a tap on the hand (I've done it myself on a couple of occasions), but belting?
Your thoughts?

my son is 7 and my daughter is 10. I'm thinking it is soon time to let them bath seperately. At first, I thought this was a great way to save on hot water and bubble soap. But, since I am making a little extra cash at he restaurant were i am waitressing, i think it is time for them to bath seperately. Both kids are really good and i dont think they will drown if left alone in the tub. HELP!

I've noticed a lot of questions where a mom or dad is complaining about their parents not watching their kids 'enough.' When did it become a grandparent's responsiblity to watch their grandkids? I've also noticed many complain when they have to pay their parents. Would a person not pay a babysitter? What makes our parents any different? I'm sorry this just bugs me. I pray to God that my kids never expect me to watch their kids! Of course, I will watch them but it shouldn't be something that grandparents feel they HAVE to do.

My two daughters, who just turned 18 & are seniors in high school, left to go snowboarding/tubbing with a couple friends yesterday morning. One of them got her wisdom teeth out a week ago and is still on painkillers. I told her not to snowboard and she agreed. They called me when they go there to tell me they'd be home around 9pm. They walked in the door at 915 yesterday and the one who just got her wisdom teeth out had her arm wrapped and in a sling and said to me, "Sorry, I snowboarded. We have to go to the doctors on Monday to get a cast."
I am furious over the fact that NEITHER of them called me when they went to hospital (how they filled out papers is beyond me) and that she snowboarded anyway. My husband on the other hand, is just glad she's ok and has moved on so we've yet to decide what to do.
How would you feel in this situation?

At this world, many new young children surf the net blindly.

They little ones don't know anything about safety.

So, what you would do when find your child is in risk?

Reading answers in this section plus first hand sight of parenting today of relatives and friends, I just had to ask when parenting changed so drastically?
I see ones cooking family meals, but if their under 6 y/o doesn't want that they will ask "what do you want me to get you"
Will you pick up your toys?
Will you go to bed?
Will you take out the trash for me?
Will you feed "your" dog for me?
Why did the school suspend you for fighting?? We'll sue them.
You have to have a car at 16, hmm your grades are bad but will you try to make C's next time?
Oh I won't spank you because it may damage you mentally, you can report me for child abuse, even if I caught you drinking at 12......
Do you mind making your bed up before you go spend time in town with all your friends?
Get the picture???? and we wonder why kids today have problems? They were never taught anything.
