My daughter is almost 4 and she doesn't have her ears pierced. She has never mentioned that she wants it, so I will wait until she decides that she wants them pierced.

A side note: England law states that it is against the law to pierce a child's ears before the age of six and they consider it child abuse for infants. I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say it is abuse, but I do think that your child should be old enough to know what you are doing to her ears. The American Academy of Pediatrics also recommends that the child is old enough to take care of their own piercing.

Yes - she was 2 - but this is a funny story. My husband was traveling alot with his job. One day my daughter and I were at the mall at Claire's. I had been thinking about getting her ears pierced but hadn't verbalized it to my husband (and I didn't think he'd really care one way or the other). It was a bit impulsive on my part, but her two year old birthday and Easter were a week away - so I had them pierced! When my husband got home from his trip and noticed - he was furious with me! (The thing is - he's normally so laid back I was a little suprised.) So - I guess the moral of the story is - be on the same page with your spouse :)

Yes, I got my daughters done at 9weeks old. She only cried for a min and she doesn't mess with them. She actually cries if she looses one.

Edited to say: In my culter they get thier ears pierced as soon as they are allowed to. When she gets older it will be her choice to wear them or not. She can let them close up if she wants to.

However, she is only 2 and is asking for her second hole. The dr said to wait until her ears are a little bigger. I told her that if she still wants it done right before she goes to Kindergarten than she can have a second hole.

If the mother takes proper care of them then there is no problem. She will even remind me everynight to take them out and soak them in peroxide while she takes a bath.

Niether of my daughters have their ears pierced. My oldest is almost 5 and my youngest is 19 months. I was 7 when I got mine pierced. I will probably have their pierced around 7 as long as they want them done!

My eldest had her's pierced at 2. I wanted her to ask instead of my just doing it. My youngest daughter asked for it at 3. She got them done, but they later grew up due to an infection. You can't see the holes at all anymore and she's a happy unpierced 5 year old now. I think if my 4th is a girl, I'll wait till she's at least 6.

My oldest daughter (now 12) was done when she was a baby...maybe six months old? My twins (8 now) were done at 6 years old....one loves to shop for earrings and her sister refuses to wear them. Some places won't do infants anymore, at least where I live. I have heard some people have it done at the Dr's office....but I don't know a single person who had it done at the Dr's....I don't even know any Dr's that offer that service?

It was 10th birthday gift but she has only 1 in each EAR nowhere else. She is now 27 and all through the teen years we heard how it was cool to have multiple piercings and I always replied that when she was no longer living under my roof she could mark her body any way she wanted. she's been on her own for many years and still only 2 holes. GOOD LUCK.

Yes. They got them pierced at ages 4 and 3. I let them decide when they wanted it done.
