i am currently studying HNC Early Education And Childcare, how does anyone feel about men caring and looking after young kids? Men and Women should have equal roles in bringing up kids, do you agree?

My daddy thinks he is so strict. About 6 or 7 months ago, based on the misguided advice of my best friends FANATIC mother, my daddy decided that threatening a "WHOOPIN" everytime I back talk him, which is quite often, is "parenting".

However, he rarely ever really gives one of these "WHOOPINS" and it's not really that bad when he does, so I am not even afraid of it!. So anyways I called his bluff today and said you're not going to do it anyways so WHO CARES? and it's all because I am a girl and you are afraid to to hurt me and you know it.

He then called me SPOILED ROTTEN and told me to forget about my allowance for 2 weeks, which is UNFAIR. My older sister, who thinks I am EXTREMELY SPOILED, told daddy that he really should give me a WHOOPIN and was like I TOLD YOU SO, Lori does not listen because you never follow through. I told her to SHUT UP, so she asked daddy for permission to WHIP MY BUTT, and he said no, it's a parents job and sheepishly walked out of the room.

And what is a good first pet to have that will teach the child responsibility (of cleaning up after the pet) and caring for another living thing?

I’ve been an elementary teacher going on my tenth year. When I first started teaching just about every child at the school wore shoes and socks. Today I would say about half my students either wear sandals, flip flops or shoes with no socks. The district handbook says no flip-flops, but the school does not enforce it because of parent’s complaining their child is being singled out. I have had two students fall and hurt themselves due to wearing improper footwear. I have also noticed the kids do not move as well on the playground when not wear sneakers. I'm worried these kids are going to have a hard time wearing real shoes when they get older not to mention the foot problems they will have from wearing shoes with poor support. Don't get me started on the smell when one of these "no sock" wearing kids take their shoes off!

Do you let your child wear sandals and flip flops to school? Do you think schools should require proper well fitting shoes with socks?

In a follow up to my question a while ago about adopting my little sister, we decided to go ahead with it and my mom wrote us a letter saying that she was signing over parental rights to me and my wife until such a time as the adoption was finalised.

Now I have a different problem. I don't know how much pocket money to give her, my mom used to give her 50 a week but I think that is far to much for a 12 year old. What do you think is a good amount for a 12 year old. Preferable people who have kids but anyone please if you think you can help.

How did you decide?

I am almost 33 and totally not ready at all to have a child. I always knew I wanted children, but my job as a nanny and not being in a good financial situation right now is making me think I shouldnt. If I were younger and I had another 10 years to be childfree I probably would have one. But, as things are now, I would have to start trying soon and my husband just graduated from college (he is 28) and we now have $100,000 in student loans to pay. My salary certainly doesnt offer much financial security and my husband's salary could be anything from $40,000 to $80,000. It just depends.

I guess I am asking if you know of any resources or advice to help with this decision. When I picture my life without children it is restful and comfortable and happy. However, when I think that I would never have a child there is a bit of sadness. I dont know how to decide and unfortunately time is not a luxury I have.

When I throw b'day parties for my kids (under 10 yrs), some parents ask something like 'hey, what is ryan into? we'd like to get something he enjoys'.
I used to hem&haw, and say something only after the parent insisted a few times. After a few parties, I'm more frank, and say something like: 'oh, thank you for asking, just having Tommy over will be great. Ryan loves books, trains & anything that moves'. Or: 'Andrea loves pretend play & anything Princess.'

My husband feels they might ask, but it is rude for me to mention what the kids are into. I am more like, hey, it is easier for that parent/kid, my kids and me(no returns).
I keep my reply generic, and do not mention any 'expensive' toys my kids might be into currently.

So, is it rude? Or just plain practical. THEY ask, and these are folks who we know but not very well, but kids get along great. My husband feels they can ask their kid what our kid likes...I feel, just mention couple categories..
who's more right?

Interesting, inexplicable errors - like a friend's kind who kept saying 'by self my' etc instead of 'by myself';
and also inventive things, like my nephew who said 'I am hungry for a tuna sandwich', which is far more precise than 'I feel like a tuna sandwich'.

My oldest son is 10 and just about to go imto p7 at school. I remember when I was in p7 my mum gave me the talk. I don't want my son to feel that he is the only one in class who doesn't know the facts. I have heard that the school was going to tell them something but I don't know if they have or not cos he hasn't said. I have also heard that the priest is going to start giving sex education to p1 (which I think is totally wrong) what would they know. I also have a boy of 6.

Before we started a family I told my husband that if we had boys he would have to tell then and if we had girls then I would do it. Luckily we have 2 boys so I don't have to do it, but when shoud his mu husband tell him?

Several members of my family, particularly those who've already had children, are so opinionated on every little thing i do with my son. How do you stop it? You can't argue with these people, they think everything they do is right! Some of them are awful parents, but they still think they should tell me what to do! Help please, I'm getting very depressed over it now!

Well, I think EVERYBODY has noticed the teen pregnancies and the kids having sex. DUH. But I think it is the PARENTS fault for exposing their children to this kind of thing. I mean, how else is an 11 year old kid supposed to know how to have sex? Or even someone my own age? Friends, yeah. But where do you their friends have learned it? Their parents! And on the internet, did you know you can check your child's history on what websites they've been on? Or get some software like NetNanny? Or just simply block the websites? I may be wrong, but I mean come on people, you are blaming your kids. But where are they getting this information? Knowing where kids come from is fine, but why do you need to go on and on about it? Why don't you just tell them that it is just for having kids instead of going on about how you are celebrating your love or whatever? Tell them that when they get married or whatever. Am I wrong?

Recently a little boy died in a hot car after being left in it for a few hours. The mom said she just forgot and got only a few years in jail and a very little bail post. Another little girl was killed in a car after she was left in it for 7 hours. several other cases I have just read the care takes or parents only got a tiny sentence. Hundreds of kids die in cars when left in them on warm to hot days. Even if out side is cool, a cars temp can almost double in just a few hours. These parents have murdered their kids and only got a few yrs in jail,( 1 yr to 19 months ) Is this an appropriate sentence? shouldn't you be looking at man saluter and child abuse/neglect? Now I can under stand leaving a gallon of milk in a hot car. But no mater what state your in, a good parent wont forget a child.

I left my 8yr old son Tonio, & my 3yrold cousin Joe with my B.F. for bout 15 min tops upon my return, Tonio is trying to pull Joe back to the house. My son told me that Joe walked out the door and my B.F. sent him after the little one.Now I was mad cuzz he was in the house laid on the sofa on his cell and the door was shut they had no supervision. I dont think he should send 1 child after another child when there safety is involved he knew better he has 3 kids 9,11,2. If you want to be with me you treat mines just as you would your own you would not let just no anything happen . And i was really mad cuzz he thought he was right and would not see no other way. For christs sake they were outside he was in the house with the door shut on the phone. So i decided he had to go was that to drastic or right on time!!!

What do you think it is that creates a picky eater? Our friends' son is very picky and doesn't like much of anything. My kids on the other hand will eat pretty much anything. We take them to all sorts of restaurants like Thai, Vietnamese and Indian. My eight year old's favorite is a Chinese/Japanese all you can eat buffet where he fills his plate with squid, octopus, mackerel sashimi and mussels. It doesn't seem like we've raised our kids much differently than they've raised their son, but he won't touch anything that you put on his plate.

ok....i asked a question about pinworms about a week ago, but now i have another...ok, i hope this does not confuse anyone. ok, i asked a question about my 2 year old who pulled on his diaper acouple times in a couple days, it looked like he might be trying to scratch his butt, all of a sudden i got paranoid (however you spell it) BECAUSE of two reasons, 1. i used to think i had a pinworm, but it was never confirmed, i never even had symptoms really, it would just feel like i had something crawling out every once in a while, but it was after i had read about them. so i thought my son could have got it from me maybe 2. is i read it in a baby book once when i was preg and always told myself to watch for it just in case, but i have been looking at his butt at night like people say to do and i dont see anything, i looked 3 diff time last night.....and i am up about to look again!! would i see them for sure if he had them? he also hasent scratched himself. am i being paranoid? more signs??

This 15-yr. old girl got pregnant for a 29-yr. old man, & she didn't even get in trouble. Her dad wasn't even upset. He figured that since the man who got his child pregnant has a lot of money, then that's OK.

The 29-yr. old man used to date my friend. I'm 23 & my friend is 28. She's really upset. In the past, the guy has gotten a lot of women & teens pregnant & hasn't claimed the baby as his, but the babies look a lot like him. & many people are crazy over him because of his looks & his money, & he's a pedophile. & he always messes around with those teenagers that are fast & easy.

Most dads would've wanted to slaughter a man for messing with their daughter!
