At what age should a boy learn how not to unrinate all over the toliet seat?

I have three boys (twins, 8, and 4), four if you include my husband. I potty trained them so they learned to sit. I tried to get them to go standing up, but I was literally wiping the ceiling! I just kept them sitting at home. They can stand when they are somewhere with a urinal. I do have those flushable bathroom cleaners for the times that they want to stand and for when the 4-yr-old pushes his bladder limit and isn't able to make it to the bathroom. I've taught them how to wipe the seat and the floor around the toilet. If you get these, make sure they know to only use it for accidents and not to use the same wipe on the sink handles after wiping the toilet. I went through the first package in less than a day and the bathroom was pretty clean.

The question should be how do we get husbands and sons to not urinate on the seat, floor or anywhere else except in the toilet!!!

Seriously, if he is old enough to stand there by himself then he is old enough to learn to lift the seat and not make a mess, but boys will be boys. And don't talk to him while he is peeing because they don't know how to only turn their head, this is how my son peed all over the floor.

Just have some bleach cleaner handy, and try your best to teach them!

It's good to start teaching them whenever you can. My brother is 6 and doesn't pee on the toilet seat bout 90% of the time..other times when he does is when he's tired or in a hurry to go play.
Now my husband who is 25 still occasionally gets pee on the toilet seat..lol
Pretty much you can teach the boys and guys but it still happens no matter the age..hee hee

My son used a permanent marker to paint a bullseye in the bowl at the super gas station where he was the manager, and said that it kept the bathroom cleaner. And I don't like the idea of men leaving the seat up because many of us women need to sit down quickly. If men need to raise them they should just hold on and lower them also. I had one husband who thought that it was a compromise to lower the lid also.

It's more about the height than the age. My boys were VERY short when they were first using the potty. They just weren't tall enough to aim down. We gave them a stool but they were unsteady on that. Finally, we ended up building a platform. What a pain, but it solved our problem!

Teach him to lift up the seat.

And don't yell at him if he forgets to lower it again.

If men and boys would learn to lift and women and girls would learning to lower it after their husbands and brothers, there would be a lot more peace in most households.

I can't remember having to clean up after my son from the time he was about 4.

His mother left us about that time, so I was the only one left to do it and thank God I didn't have to.

He made enough other messes, thank God they weren't in the bathroom.

NEVER!! Oh my gosh my husband still does it!! Seriously though, the older the get, the better aim they have. My son is almost 6 and he still misses quite often. I make him clean up his mess when he does. Some moms have found it helpful to throw some cherrios or fruit loops into the toilet to help them aim, but when your not there to monitor, watch out!
