Thank you for your answers, It's my roomates sex buddy's child. When they come here she lets her go outside and play just so they can have sex...it's crazy..either that or a nap. I think she is a horrible parent but she has a smart mouth and a white girl ghetto trash mentality so it would be hard to speak up to her without wanting to pummel her head into some concrete

I only let my son play out on our gated deck, even though we have a fully fenced back yard. If I am outside he can play out in the yard. Too many plants that can be injested, and too many crazy people that snatch kids out of their own yard.

Pookie Poo-- A fully fenced yard is not enough protection against kidnappers and child molesters! They can open a gate and snatch a child in seconds while you are "Throwing in a load of laundry". Is having a clean load of clothes worth the risk of losing your child?

I think ANYTIME a child is left alone there is always the opportunity that something may go wrong. Children don't have the ability to rationalize or no the difference from right and wrong at times. Children on more times then none go on how they feel at the time rather then what they should or should not do. I don't think as a general rule that it is EVER a good idea that children under the age of 10 be left alone by themselves. I am more concerned about what a child may do when things are going wrong. I have heard many things before on the radio in regards to children that die because lack of supervision. Many children drown in their own pool that a their parent has provided for them to play in. ALWAYS supervise your child because I cannot stress enough on how important it is to take a few minutes of your time with a child rather then to have done differently and regret it later.

Depends on what you mean by 'outside' and 'supervision'. Just let him run amuck? No way. Play in the fenced backyard for awhile? Sure. And before I hear any flack about how dangerous a backyard is....lighten up. A 3 year old can get in just as much trouble inside as he can outside. It comes down to whether the child is the type to chew on rocks, or the type to play in a sandbox.

Absolutely not. Leaving a child INSIDE without supervision is dangerous. Three year olds can get into all kinds of things you think they never would. Having them OUTSIDE only adds to the danger by bringing in other people.

I believe you can as long as they are in a child friendly environment. For example a fenced in back yard with no animals or areas where they can hurt themselves. And you have to remember that they still need constant supervision you cant just put them outside and take a nap. Still have them close enough where you can monitor them from a distance.

Three year old is not mature enough to be outside unsupervised unless the yard is designed specifically for their safety. That would include a protective fence which would provide privacy and security. A closed circuit surveillance camera could be used too.

He is allowed to go in the back yard alone, but I can still keep an eye on him. Otherwise no. We live on a street where idiots speed down the road and do not properly stop at the stop sign in front of our house. I caught him trying to go out one morning with his new bike and I nearly freaked. So, I hope this is just a notorious question.

NO, NO, NO! I would not. A 3 year old is simply not old enough to be allowed to be unsupervised. My daughter is 7 and still is not allowed to be outside unsupervised. Kids don't have the judgment we have as adults and can make mistakes that can get them into trouble. Plus there are all of the sickos that are out there, it's really scary. Kids as old as teenagers are sometimes abducted, if a kid that old can't defend him/herself then how could a little 3 year old?

I wouldnt no.
You cant be too careful nowadays even in your own garden.
Supervision is always needed when your children are playing outside.
Even if its your back garden you should check on your child every 10 minutes just in case.

Please dont you wouldnt want your childs picture on a missing child poster or on the news.

Hope you make the right decision x

Absolutely not, not ever.
Not even in a completely fenced and safe yard....... you never know if someone could steal the child, he could fall, bees could sting him, a million things can happen if you aren't looking.
Never Never Never leave a child that young unsupervised, anywhere, anytime.
